When Imogene arrived she scoffed at the sight of another casket, Imaran deserved to have his own funeral, he meant so much to her. How was it fair that random people got to occupy space on such a tragic day? After all, no one could ever feel the way she feels. No one has ever suffered such a loss.
The sight of all the gravestones oddly comforted Aurum. Truly, he was shattered about the death of Aura, but death had always comforted him. He was bitter that she had to share her funeral with a random stranger but she deserved the attention. The smell of everyone’s tears was robust, it made Aurum sick just to think of the displaying of emotions.
The time came for the service to start, the lids of the caskets were lifted and a strange feeling came over both Imogene and Aurum. The looked around the crowd of people, they could feel the eyesight of a stranger and soon enough their eyes met. Before they lowered the coffins into the ground the twins said their last goodbyes. Aurum kissed Aura’s cheek, the touch of his lips against her soft check, her life hidden somewhere inside. Imogene knelt by Imaran, the taste of tears falling into her mouth, leaving him to rest with a last grip of her hand. Both twins stood beside each other as they witnessed their whole world sink into the earth.
Imogene reached her hand back and grabbed Aurum’s hand. It took her a moment to realize what she had done, she was accustomed to always holding Imaran’s hand. Before she could jerk her hand away Aurum tightened his hand around hers. The way their hands felt intertwined was indescribable. They couldn’t bear to leave the cemetery, the feeling of incompleteness had just gone away and they dare not face it again by parting from each other.
It was no surprise that neither Aurum or Imogene returned home after the service. They spent the rest of the day walking around the cemetery talking, telling each other all about their twin. Even though they only met a few hours ago, they felt like they’ve known each other forever. There was no way they could ever leave each others side.
