This is a tale about a beautiful young Arabic peasant girl by the name of Aaliyah and her complicated journey to marry her one true love. Aaliyah is in love with the handsome prince, who is unfortunately unaware of her existence. The first act opens up with Aaliyah alone working after hours in the antique shop located in the heart of the village’s main marketplace. She discovers a small gold lamp, which someone had abandoned and brought in to be re-sold. She was automatically fascinated by the object, never seeing anything quite like it. She spent her days in the marketplace dressed to impress, and hoping that one day the Prince would see her. The Genie was in awe listening to Aaliyah talk about love and riches, for these were all things the Genie had never experienced living in the lamp all these years away from society. He was so intrigued by Aaliyah’s story that he befriended her and along with the three wishes, decided to help her attract the Prince. The story then becomes one of friendship. Aaliyah and The Genie become best friends and spend a lot of time together plotting ways for the Prince to notice Aaliyah. One day the Prince comes down to the marketplace announcing to the population that he will be looking for a wife suitable to his needs. Aaliyah and the Genie take this opportunity to their advantage, dressing Aaliyah in her most beautiful gown and making sure she was front row while the Prince delivered his speech. To their luck The Prince noticed Aaliyah and got her name before he was escorted away by his soldiers. Later that night the Genie granted Aaliyah her second wish, and the next morning she received a formal letter in the mail from the Prince himself asking her to attend a dinner with his family that evening.
