The Unwanted
Abortion is a big issue in our society; it has been debated for many decades. There are people that are against abortion (Pro-life) and then there are people that are for it (Pro-choice). This is one of those topics where there is no right or wrong, people have their own strong opinions about it. Although there are many situations females face that lead to an abortion; it’s still a serious decision to make.
People who are pro-life are strongly against abortion. They believe abortion is considered murder, and a crime. In this case they see murdering an unborn child just as bad as taking someone’s life. These people spend hours outside abortion clinics, trying to prevent others from going through with an abortion. On the other hand people who are pro-choice strongly believe a women should have a choice whether they want to keep their baby or not. Women should have control over their own bodies. Both have good arguments so it’s hard to say who’s right and who’s wrong. …show more content…
The rate of abortions was at its highest in the 90’s and has been at a steady number since then.
Many people believe it was so high before, because of lack of knowledge about safe sex and abortions. “In 2007, 84% of all abortions were performed on , unmarried women 33% of them where between the ages of 20 -24 and 24% were between 25 and 29”. (CDC) In the same year about 17% of teens had gone through an abortion as well. Many of the reasons for having an abortion were, they were too young, it would interfere with school or work, or they could not afford a child. There is large amount of parents who forced their teens to have abortions, for some of the same reasons. In 2011 the numbers came down
slightly.
Taking birth control, providing sex education and also adoption can help avoid having an abortion. Birth control is used to prevent pregnancy but only when used correctly. When women choose to take birth control pills it’s a less opportunity of them getting pregnant, but there is still a possibility. On the other hand sex education should be provide in schools to teach children the importance of safe sex and preventing abortions and other bad effects like sexual transmitted diseases. If more teenaged girls knew the outcomes of not having safe sex, the issue with abortion would most likely be prevented. Another option is adoption, even though it is a sad process, it offers the baby a chance at a good life. Adoption is giving the child away instead of raising it and an adoption agency takes the child in and raises it or a new family takes responsibility of that child. The adoption process is a heart breaking process but if a person is not ready to have a child in their life yet it’s always better to give the new born away to a family wants one. Lastly the best way to prevent an abortion is if people would practice abstinence. You can prevent pregnancy by not having sex at all.
All though pro-life has a good argument I still disagree of taking a innocent life, simply because everyone deserves a chance to live at life. Abortion is very dangerous and it should be illegal. Even though I am not in another person’s place I still feel as though killing a baby is unfair because it is killing an innocent life that could have lived a good life with a another family. Also the women could lose her life going through the abortion process is always better to be against it, then to be with. Simply because it’s a chance for a person to live. An unborn baby life is just as important as a living.
