Nearly half of all pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. Abortion should be made illegal, because a fetus is a baby, no person has a right to take another's life, and an unborn baby cannot make the decision to live or die.
While some view abortion as something people should be able to choose, others say abortion is a great evil, which is destroying the moral fabric of society Cline (2010). Many of the arguments turn on the status of the fetus: Is a fetus a person? A fetus is indeed a baby. From the moment of conception, a fetus is alive and growing inside the mother’s womb. For this reason, the fetus is a baby and considered a living, breathing being. If this were not so, then why is there a law in the state of California that if a person murders a pregnant female, that person is then charged with two counts of murder instead of just one? This is true no matter how far along the mother is, one day or nine months. Therefore, this makes the fetus a real person.
No person has the right to take another person’s life. Many skeptics say that the Bible does not say anything specifically about abortion. That there are no references to women seeking to end pregnancies, for example, by using herbs or other chemicals, despite the fact that abortion must have been a known practice at the time Cline. At the same time, the Bible teaches that murder is a sin, and that God is the only one who can make the decision if a person should live or die. Therefore, if it is wrong to murder, it is also wrong to abort a baby. People are forced to "play God" whenever a decision is made about reproduction. From the perspective of the law, if a person commits murder, he or she is held accountable and punished. This fact definitely proves that it is wrong to take a person’s life. There is also another point to ponder; if a doctor accidently harms a fetus during a medical procedure he or she can be held liable. However, an abortion doctor is allowed to intentionally harm the same fetus and this is said to be all right. There is a fine line there and it should not be at all.
An Unborn baby cannot make its own decision to live or die. Every child deserves a chance to live; it is not the child’s fault if the parent does not want to give birth to that child. Abortions sometimes happen because many women are afraid to step up to the responsibility of caring for a child, or maybe they are financially or mentally unstable. Nevertheless, many abortions take place simply because some women just do not want the baby. Using abortion for birth control is wrong and immoral but there are many women who still do it. People need to become educated in the truth and laws need to definitely change. There are too many abortions being performed and children are not able to have a chance at life. An unborn baby also cannot voice his or her opinion in the matter and is considered helpless to the situation. An abortion takes away a baby’s right to make the decision to live or die. Many people who are for abortions argue that abortion should be allowed in certain cases, such as rape or incest, or when the pregnancy could threaten the life or health of the mother.
These same people also say that abortion must remain legal because a woman should have the right to control her body and her destiny. This may be true for the mother but one must also consider the unborn child and its’ need for protection. A fetus is a helpless being; it cannot scream or get away when an abortion is being performed. The one who is supposed to be the child’s protector is the one who made the choice to disallow the baby live. Abortion is definitely not the right choice. There are alternatives to abortion and adoption is one. In the case of rape or incest abortion is not a solution, adoption is though. There are many loving families that would love to have the opportunity to nurture and care for a child. Many of these couples are unable to conceive, so this would be a perfect solution for the problem on both sides. Most important, the unborn child gets what he or she deserves; a chance at life.
With these points made, there is no question that abortion should be made illegal. From the moment of conception the fetus or baby is alive. Although it may not have a pulse or heartbeat the fetus is a living being. Also no living person has the right to take another persons life, murder is murder. The last point being, the baby who is inside cannot make any decisions and is paying the consequences for something he or she cannot prevent or help. No matter what some may believe, one cannot ignore the plain and simple truth; abortion is not the solution for the problem. The facts do not lie; it is just what it is: murder.

Abortion can be considered as murder, as the baby has a heartbeat and is a living creature. “At conception, we have a human organism, a human being. We do not have a baboon organism or a chimpanzee organism or an elephant organism” (Pasquini 5). This is killing an innocent living human without it having committed any crime. The idea of legalizing a process in which a baby has to pay for the mother’s mistake or be punished for simply being alive is one that is hard to fit into the mind of many. The baby shouldn’t be the one to be blamed for irresponsibility. Normally when a human life is taken from them, severe punishment is enforced and the result can even be death of the person who committed the murder. Abortion should be no different because the baby is as much as a human as anyone else on…

Abortion is murder of an innocent life, and it is completely wrong in every way. There is no justification that could cover the fact that we are murdering our most defenseless human beings, and if anything we should be doing everything to protect them and keep them safe from danger, but yet some are doing the complete opposite. Abortion should never be an option, and one should never feel like abortion is the only choice because it is not the only choice. One must understand that abortion is not just, and people must come to their senses and realize the true outcomes of aborting a…

Abortion is the killing of an unborn child, or in other words, murder. The unborn child is in fact a living human being. Although some may disagree that the baby is living while in the womb, it can be proven scientifically otherwise. Erick Eckholm in the New York Times online quoted Dr. Eric Webb, an obstetrician, who said, “With the union of the egg and sperm, that is life, and genetically human.” It is human at the moment of egg and sperm coming together. Rob Schwarzwalder similarly explained in his online article on Family Research Council, “The zygote is composed of human DNA and other human molecules, so its nature is undeniably human and not some other species. . . It is also quite clear to us that the earliest human embryo is biologically alive. It fulfills the four criteria needed to establish biological life: metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction.” He makes the argument very clear that when the sperm and egg fuse together, a new entity that is distinctly human becomes alive and an individual. He also discusses that the new human zygote has a genetic composition that is different from any other human, including the mother (Schwarzwalder). All of these facts contribute to the fact that this baby is not just an extension of the mother’s body alone, but it is a new and unique human being. Mary Balch bluntly states in her article online for USA Today, “The fetus, in many cases, dies just as a human adult or child would: It bleeds to death as it is torn limb from limb.” When you decide to abort, you are technically killing an irreplaceable living person.…

Having an abortion does not cause harm nor is it killing a person. So, is abortion really murder? When does a person become a person? Will you need a brain a heart and other working body parts? A fetus brain does not work while it is developing nor does its heart. Even we need our hearts to beat to be alive. The fetus does not feel pain while being aborted this is backed by science. The spinal cord and nerves are not developed to feel pain. 89-92% of all abortions happen during the first trimester, prior to the 13th week of pregnancy (CDC). 1.4% occurred after twenty-one weeks' of a pregnancy (CDC). The 1.4 that took place after the 21 week mark was because the fetus was fatal to mother if it was not removed. Embryos and fetuses are not independent beings. They cannot live on their own and are not self-sustaining. Birth days are counted from the day they take their first breath in this earth, not the time that a male and female conceive them. . The majority vote in favor in Roe v. Wade states that "the word 'person,' as used in the Fourteenth Amendment [of the US Constitution], does not include the…

Genesis 2:7 says “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Proverbs 6:16-17 says that God hates those who shed innocent blood. Abortion violates human rights. Abortion violates the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment guarantees equal protection for all. According to AbortionFacts.com “The mother has not only the right to live, but also the right to the lifestyle of her choice—as long as that choice does not rob other people of even more fundamental rights, the most basic of which is the right to live” (Thompson). Pro-choice believers think that the pregnant woman out weights the life of a fetus. No one has more rights than another person. In America we are all equal. I believe the mother should not have the right to terminate her baby just because she does not want it. Abortion is killing a person before they can live their life.…

Although the Bible does not specifically talk about abortion, it does place validity on life before birth. “If men who hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows (NIV 235).” Although this doesn’t directly say abortion is wrong, it says that the loss of the fetus should be punished. This would be done by either being fined or taking the life from the one who committed the crime as well. This shows us that God considers the fetus to be alive and the death to be murder. Most women feel rushed into or forced into having an abortion.…
