She needs to feel that she has a place in society while also trying to find meaning in her own life. Sarah most likely will not be able to continue her job and has already missed the last 3 weeks. Her financial necessities will have to be solved outside the world of work. Sarah would surely be able to get welfare for her disability so that she has every means of getting her and her children’s needs attended to everyday. Leaving work would mean that she would have a lot of time on her hands so it would be difficult for her to find meaning in her life then. A solution to this could be that she could take part in more aspects of her children’s lives but also to find hobbies that suit her condition. Maybe something like bird-watching which doesn’t require that much activity from a person in terms of speech and movement things which Sarah is encountering problems with. Probably not the most interesting hobbies but something which would be in Sarah’s domain and something that would keep her mind occupied and give her meaning to do something. Another solution could be that of smoothing over problems, if any, with her husband. Multiple Sclerosis can lead to stress in relationships and can sometimes result in the breakdown of relationships. There are different exercises and timetables that she can partake in to aid her in controlling the moves of her own bodily fluids. This would be much handier for Sarah without having to go into a hospital every now and again to sort out problems associated with catheter bags.
Sarah should also try and bring in a physical therapist to aid her with the power of her legs. Maybe there is exercises that can be taught that will enhance the muscles in the legs and help the patient in making, even if it is only small, movements. Again this would be hugely beneficial to Sarah, without her needing the use of supports or a wheelchair it would definitely make her life that one bit easier.
As of her ever failing condition Sarah should consider a change in career or drop the working world altogether. With her tools for teaching fading, like movement and speech, it would be impossible to keep going down this path. Another interest or hobby should be taken into account and see if there is any line of work that will accommodate her
