Accident: Automobile and Rough Asphalt Road
The memories left imprints that I can never forget in my life. I still go there sometimes in my dreams, seeing my mind’s eyes every single detail, sound and smell that I can still clearly remember. That wasa close to death encounter. The morning was cool and resplendent. I was on just another typical drive to school despite I was late.Because of the belated departure, I went fast, maybe too fast. It was no big deal I am driving fast asthat was my usual route to school. I was not paying much attention to the road. Suddenly a car swerved into my path and I had to take evasive action to avoid collision. Then, from the corner of myeyes, the lamp post was approaching fast.I slammed my foot down on the pedal attempting to salvage the situation with an emergency break butI failed. The tyres blazed the rough asphalt road when it screeched with a high-pitched sickeningsound piercing the quiet surrounding. With my eyes sealed tight, I could feel my body float off theseat. Then, I heard the huge earthshaking thump.I received a violent jolt and my body hit the steering wheel and the windscreen. I could hear the crashof metal being twisted at the moment of impact before the engine died to lay the car in a heap of fume.In the blink of an eye, the world was turned upside down. When I finally got myself together, I waslying about 20 feet from the wreckage. I know, I was thrown out of the car with a terrific force. How I landed on the ground I could not definitely say. I felt the tremendous shock. I could feel myheart beating rapidly. I did not know the extent of injuries except that I could feel pain here and there. The throbbing pain was indescribable. Before my eyes were losing the power of holding a purposefulsteady gaze, I could see shards of shattered windscreen glinted under the sultry sun. Those bloodstained ones gleamed like rubies. I made a vain attempt to get up. I felt I could not.In the meantime, people gathered around, and there was usual fuss and excitement with a little

My mother, sister, and I were driving down Highway 124 on a hot July day when my mom screamed and slammed on the breaks. Fear rushed through our bodies. Outside the car window, a short young African American man was launched into the air. As he came down, a loud boom sounded as his body helplessly rolled off the hood of the faint green Toyota Corolla in front of us. The man lay motionless in the road while we waited for what seemed like hours for the driver to exit the car. His red shirt and gym shorts were ripped. The driver of the opposing car threw the vehicle in reverse in a spasmodic action in an attempt to end the man’s life. The injured man made an effort to crawl onto the Wendy’s sidewalk, forcing his body up on the curb to evade the car. The driver drove up onto the curb and blew its tire, just barely missing the wounded man. Realizing the driver would stop at nothing, my mother drove her white suburban in front of the car, blocking the violent perpetrator from doing any further damage.…

The sky was nice and clear. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was perfect. It was a typical third grade day. My friends and I were in recess, goofing around, having fun. We sat on the benches and joked around. Next thing I knew my friend was on my back and I was carrying him around. Not aware of my surroundings, I tripped over a bench, closed my eyes, braced for impact, and fell face first into the dirt. I got up feeling dazed and the first thing I hear is a scream. Confused, I looked over to my friend and her face was a mixture of scared and shocked. I saw friends run to the restroom to get me paper towels, but others told me to go to the office. As I walked to the office, I began to feel pain in my lip. I walked into the office speechless.…

I snap back to reality and notice that my speedometer read 30 mph. I was in a 20 mph zone. I slam on the brakes to slow down. Behind me, a driver lays on his horn to tell me how irresponsible my last decision was. I reach for the radio and turn the tuner dial until I find something upbeat and groovy. As I remove my hand, I begin to hit on the steering wheel like a drum. The steering wheel is black and coverless. It sounds good when I hit it. It is also keeping me awake at the moment. My step mom sat next to me in the passenger’s seat messing around with her phone. She never pays attention to me when I’m driving. I see a curb on the next right turn I have to take. After running over the curb, my step mom glances up to make sure I did not hit anyone. When realizing that everything is fine, she goes back to Facebook on her phone. The darkness of night was exhausting. My eyes fluttered in the beams of the yellow street lights. In a couple of blocks, I make another right turn. Then a left turn into my driveway. I turn off the engine and let out a sigh of relief. I reach for my door handle and pull, eager to go to my bed. My legs wobble underneath me as I stumble out of the truck. I am finally…

At the age of eleven, and on my way to a ballet recital a woman who was careless pulled under an awning in a non-parking zone in front of The Girls Club. I was running to catch up with my group. I looked left and right and proceeded to walk under the awing to the parking lot across from the building. From the corner of my eye’s I saw a white car pull up in front of me very fast. The trip home seemed like the longest ever. We walked into the house to find my dad with the TV on. More smoke, more fog, more running to save lives. I remember sitting in front of the TV set, watching aghast and scared. The footage went on forever. Finally my parents calmed me down and convinced me a good nights’ rest would do me some good. I lay in bed racking my brain to figure out why someone would do something so horrible. The next day, we didn’t have to go to school, so I stayed home with my mom. I kept asking her over and over again why this happened, but whatever explanation she gave me, I still couldn’t completely put it all…

Blood flowing out of my skull and hands. I can feel my whole head throbbing. The surges of pain continue over and over. I decide to pull strength from within to get up to check out the quad. I soon realize that the crack I heard was the snapping of the axle rod forcing the tire to be bent and rendering the quad un-drivable. Leaving the quad behind, I decided to walk back to camp. Of course I forgot my phone back at camp not planning that I would be taking a mouthful of dirt. As I walk I notice a white figure out of the corner of my eye. Since I was hurt and not sensible, my first thought was that this figure is a flesh seeking monster ready to gobble up my entire body whole. Given the fact that I actually believed that, I began to quicken my pace from a walk to a jog to a sprint. Just as I was ready to fall over and die of exhaustion, I notice an orange glow near me. This time it wasn’t a monster it was light coming from my camp’s fire. After my lengthy journey, I reached my dad and he rushed over to me baffled by my injury. With tears in my eyes, I sat down and began to regurgitate the whole experience. That night as I drift off into the abyss that was my dreams, I settled on the fact that the white figure was only the tail of a squirrel. I guess I deserved that fright given the fact that I did invade his…

I’m sorry mom.” In an instant the noise grew so loud it seemed like I was standing in the middle of a nuclear bomb. Not a second later it was silent and the world around me went pitch…
