Firstly we’ll take a look at the distance between students home and university and the frequency for being late of the student. Suprisingly, students whose house is less than 5km away from school is more often seen being late than those who live further than 5km away from school. 37% students who live less than 1 km away from school is often late for class, while those number for students whose house is less than 1 km, from 5km-10km, and more than 10km are 28%, 28% and 30% respectively. The distance in between school and home does not contribute much to the frequency in which students are late.
The second factor that the survey consider is the time that classes start. According to the survey, 23% of students who study in 6 to 7am class is late for almost everyday. 14% of students go to class late every day when their class stats from 7-8am and less than 10% of students study in class started from 8-8h30am is late. In conclusion classes that start early are more likely to have students come in late.
Some excuses students make for being late including overslept, laziness, habit, incidents and other. Among those reasons, the most common one is oversleeping, account for over 30% of students. The next one is laziness (22%). Habit accounts for 14%, and incidents and others account for 34%. That means 66% of all excuses for being late remains in student’s own attitude (overslept, laziness, bad habit)
