Affirmative Action Policy Analysis
The policy of giving special consideration to minorities and women. This policy been here for 55 years but yet is still a problem in today society. Affirmative action is suppose to prevent discrimination from happening at jobs, schools, or anything else that is a opportunity to do something. It suppose to make it equal for all races and gender around the world to feel the same position. “Affirmative action policies often focus on employment and education. In institutions of higher education, affirmative action refers to admission policies that provide equal access to education for those groups that have been historically excluded or underrepresented, such as women and minorities.”(“Overview”, 2014, para 1).

Not every one think of Affirmative Action being good. “The establishment of racial quotas in the name of affirmative action brought charges of so-called reverse discrimination in the late 1970s.”(“Higher education”.,(n.d. ) para 2). Some people say that affirmative action is reverse discrimination. People also say that affirmative action is a attempt to end discrimination with discrimination.
I personally don't think that because if there wasn't any discrimination in the first place there wouldn't be a need for affirmative action. Woman and minorities wouldn't have to worried about getting in to higher education and good jobs. Today affirmative action is known as a failure. That is because even though the policy have done good by helping minorities and women get into school and jobs. It still hasn't stopped racism from roaming almost everywhere you

    In a country the size of the United States, different races and different views on the equality of each race exist. Affirmative Action was a put in place by the Federal Government to help conserve the protection of rights towards minorities, whether it be determined by race or sex, during the time after the civil war when they people were still being discriminated upon based on these two aspects. Affirmative Action created a situation that allowed minorities a guaranteed spot within a workplace or a school, eliminating racism and allowing the minority to be recognized for its accomplishments. This may not have been the best solution for the problem but at the time it was put in place it was a necessary mean to try and correct an evil.
