that is still largely prevalent when we connect the injustice that people of color experience of the past and with the injustices that is still plagued today. In my belief, the time claims of affirmative action being discriminatory are used to invalidate the successes of people of color, but is also an excuse to maintain the status quota. The main issue is that we perceive the experience in the places where affirmative action has been eliminated. There has been a one-third to one-half drop in the number of African American and Latino students admitted into college. Eighty-percent of those students would have graduated from those institutions and what that means is that not only dreams for many students are being crushed but that will mean that less African American and Latino doctors, lawyers, and leaders in every field in the future. At this moment, the nation is becoming more of a majority-minority, its leadership will fall under white Americans and the new form of separate and unequal which is unjustified. The fact that there is an enormous level of discrimination and inequality of first and secondary level of education, but no one has done anything about the issue. The only way to assure that millions of African American and Latino go to the best schools in the United States. Another major racial target in discrimination of college admission besides African American and Latino are Asians.
Affirmative action is still constitutional. I believe that college admissions or employment agencies should be based on merit for as those who get into a universities or is hired for a job, should be those who are most qualify. In most cases race plays a major role through the access of education. I oppose oppression of any race and I believe that every race has the right to defend their rights to preserve their heritage and traditions. I believe justice because once there is an opportunity for employment or promotion or a scholarship for college admission by people’s merits regardless of their racial status. Affirmative action is not about racial preference should be resolved but rather who may resolve it. The way I view our society today is that racism has not disappeared but rather many ethnic groups is being targeted and Americans should not rely on government officials for change—change starts with ourselves.
Conclusion
The ideologies of affirmative action will not change drastically, but can eventually be changed as the nation moves forward.
What this paper had accomplish is that people will understand what affirmative action is, present four different government views, and my stance against affirmative action in connection to opportunities. Affirmative action programs can ensure that everyone is provided the same equal opportunities despite of their race, color, or gender. However, affirmative action can be linked as to racial discrimination because people of color or certain minority groups are not given the same opportunity to go to the best universities in the United States, or hire for employment. The real challenge is to implement a resolution that can benefit the majority and minority by providing enough seats for students who wants to have a higher education. Also, provide a decent paying job without having to bring up race or gender. The fact that this is a major issue in the employment and education world, but the real question is who will stand up and make a change to end racial discrimination and provide equal opportunity for
everyone?
