Agricultural Invention: compound bow, riding saddle, and the cotton gin
Agriculture has many things to do with inventions. Now you might think that inventions only consist of science and technology. Even though this is true, science and technology are involved in agriculture too, but the invention themselves is related to agriculture by its purpose or how it is used and by whom. For example, the compound bow. It is used for hunting and to bring in a “harvest” of game for food. That is agriculture. Also things like the English saddle, which is used for riding horses and such or even the types of guns used for hunting and etc. is used for agriculture. And yes these all had to be invented at one point.
The compound bow was invented in July 12, 1909 – June 28, 1979 by Holless Wilbur
Allen. He created this bow because him and a fellow hunter found bow hunting very difficult to accomplish what they needed while hunting deer. After many struggles it was patented in the
1960’s but was developed over the years. It now has two cams or wheels on each end a more accurate sight and more than one single cord. It gives the bow more accuracy and power which is adjustable unlike the first bows like the reflex and other types. This particular weapon is used for hunting and is much more efficient and completing its tasks. Now a days it is used for hunting animals of many sizes from turkey, to deer, to bear.
Another invention is the English riding saddle. many types of the saddle were around at the time and had been invented by empires that used them. There are other versions with specific uses or name though such as the English saddle. It was supposedly invented by
Captain Federico Caprili who was an italian equestrian. The problem they needed to solve was a safer, more comfortable way to ride, besides the already used saddles. When he originally made it, it was known as the forward seat. It is placed on the back of the horse for comfort. It has stirrups like

The first true pioneers were the Lumiére bro’s the sons of a famous portrait painter Antoine Lumiére from the 1800s. Their father then opened a company which produced photographic equipment with his sons as his employees. While working the two brothers then discovered the ‘Dry plate’ process of photography in 1881 at the young age of 17. This in turn boosted their father’s company massively and by 1894 they were producing around 15 million plates a year for the company. Due to this popularity Antoine was invited to a demonstration of Edison’s Peephole Kinescope in Paris. A kinescope is a device that allowed people to view pictures on a moving speal to give the illusion that it is moving similar flip books that people use to make animation. Antoine then brought some Kinescope film for his sons, and told them to reproduce this into something great, as producers wanted to make films in France. The brothers than began development of the kinescope in the winter, 1894. However after many months of trying to replicate the device the brothers realised There was too many issues with Edison’ Kinescope that had to be solved for example the camera being too bulky and heavy and the fact that it could only be viewed by one person at a time. So In early 1895 the brothers invented their own device for filming called a Cinématographe which was a combination of a camera, printer and a projector;. It was smaller than Edison’s first initial design as it was lightweight, made less noise and was operated by a hand crank. Due to this massive advancement in…

During flintlock’s peak came the next big step for firearms, accuracy. Accuracy became the big topic bringing us scopes and rifling. Scopes were more or less just the common iron sights that we have on all of our weapons today. But, rifling was a hunch thought up by archer's during the time. The archers believed that if the fletching on their arrows increased their accuracy the same could be done for…

I felt the stock of my bow while I was sitting in the blind. Frost had already began to form where I rubbed it off seconds ago. I looked through the small window at the everlasting snow. “Wait, was that a deer moving along those trees?” I asked myself. It looked more like a kangaroo making its way through the snow. I could barely stand up in the cold. I pulled back, ready to take the shot.…
