Aha Moment Write 1

You know the infinitely asked question in Geometry or any high school math class, “When will I ever use this?”? Yeah it’s come out of my mouth a time or two. I’- ve asked my teachers, I’ve asked my dad. The teachers told me I would be surprised at how useful it will be, and my dad told me that I’ll probably use it constructing something. I told him I would never construct anything, it’s not my thing. Two days ago, I was spending the day with my cute old grandparents when my Grandfather asked me to help him build something in the garage. Of course, I told him I would help him. We were building a shanty to put on the ice in the winter for ice fishing. At first I started doing the little jobs, beginner jobs, handing him screws, giving him different tools, but after an hour or so he started asking me to do more things, and I was comfortable with it. I was actually having fun! In the midst of helping my grandfather, I realized that I was naturally figuring out angle measures, and I did it perfectly! In that moment, I understood how math is used every day. I didn’t even know I was using it at first! I stopped for a moment and I said, “ Grandpa! I never thought those math classes were any good, I thought they were a waste of time, but in helping you I saw that math is used every day, in all kinds of different situations!
