I disagree with the idea that government should reduce air traffic by taxing it heavily. Nowadays travelling by plane has become very convenient, it is right fair for the people who rarely travel or business man must to pay higher ticket price because the government try taxing more higher?
Because the tax increase also means increase the ticket prices but maybe quality can't be increased. In my opinion, there are a number of reasons why this is not the right thing. First, the tax is unfair to low-income people, because they do not have enough money to go regularly, but if they must to go they still have to pay very high cost. The tax would have to be a fixed amount paid equally whether you are rich or poor, which means that those on lower incomes would find it more difficult to travel, but it would like to have little effect on the lives of those with a higher income. In addition, such a tax increase will not be effective in protecting the environment because the needs of the people to travel is very high, so they still have to spend money higher price to transport by airplane.
When the price of ticket is high, people may consider to choose an alternative means of transport such as train or car instead of travelling by plane. Therefore, this would probably cause lots of noise and pollution, even more traffic jam on the roads, primarily during holidays. As a result, air traffic will decrease so that new airport construction could not be needed.
In conclusion, it is show that taxing the passenger tickets heavily is not an appropriate solution
