We get most of our security form the intelligence agencies that actually stop the terrorists before they even get to the airport. Also the post 9/11 Air Marshal Program puts undercover officers on planes to protect us against hijackings and other terrorist threats. Also the vigilant passengers, one example would be the shoe bomber. He brought on board an explosive in his shoe which he failed to detonate, because he got subdued by the angry passengers. And there is one last fact, there just isn't much threats, therefore there isn't much to be protected from. The T.S.A. confiscates mistakenly left items from the passengers bags like guns, knifes and grenade shaped key chains, which does not pose as big of a threat. We still need some security to but not as expensive useless as now, No matter what kind of security measures are taken very rare smart terrorists are going to be able to get through whatever we put in front of them or choose an easier target. There is only two ways to deal with smart terrorists. Number one, we need vigilant passengers. that's what stopped both the shoe and underwear bomber. Number two is we need good intelligence and investigation so we can stop terrorist before they get to the airports . If we ban liquids they will start using solids, If we defend airports, they will find easier targets. They will always find a way to bypass our security. We should not be wasting $7 Billion on something that does not work. We should use the resources for more important things like intelligence and investigation, which works regardless of what the terrorists are planning next and security that doesn't require us to guess the next terrorist tactic and
