Albert 11/03

The father was waiting in front of the office since 4:55 P.M. Albert was dropped off at 5:03 P.M. The caretaker informed this worker that Albert had some milk and he had his diaper changed prior the visit. She requested to have visit supervised inside the office since Albert’s immune system was compromised. When the father placed Albert in his stroller, the caretaker repeatedly asked him to cover it up to keep Albert from getting cold. Inside the visitation room, the father handed his son baby cheerios which Albert ate and then, played with his toys. The father then fed Albert with his baby food. Crawling after the cheerios container, Albert tried to grab and handful of the baby snack. Removing the cheerios container from Albert’s sight, the father told him, “No, No, one at the time” while laughing at his son. Albert constantly crawled to discover the room furniture and toys. The father asked his son to say “Dada” and picked him back whenever Albert crawled away. While playing, Albert spat up some milk on the floor. This worker handed the father some tissues when she was informed by the father. At 6:01 P.M., the father fed Albert the milk bottle. While carrying Albert around the lobby, the father repeatedly asked his son to repeat after him, “Dada.” At 6:35 P.M., the father carried his son back to the visitation room to change his diaper. This worker asked him to be more careful since Albert would twist and turn his body while lying on his back. The father explained that Albert formed his habit from an ear infection. The father then laid his on the sofa so that his legs dropped towards the floor and extended perpendicular to his father who was sitting on the floor. Unsurprisingly, Albert twisted his torso and coincidentally, found his bottle of milk. When the father removed the old diaper, this worker noticed pink marks ran across

On December 28, 2014; Rachel Melacon and Allen Coats gave birth to Olivia Coats. Unfortunately the doctor, who delivered her baby girl, by using forceps against the young couple’s wishes, caused unfixable injuries to the newborn. The couple puts blame for the death of their five-day old baby girl, Olivia Coats. However even though she requested to have a C- section, due to the size of the baby, Dr. George T. Backardjiev shut the idea down. Dr. Backardjiev told Rachel that it would leave a scar afterwards. He ended up using the forceps to deliver her baby girl. Dr. Backardjiev struggled with the forceps, “he even put his foot on the bed” to try and pull the baby out. “Dr. Backardjiev was turning and twisting, and she would never come out, he put the forceps one way and the other; when he touched the top and the side of the skull, we heard a pop, like clay cracking in pottery and heard her skull crush.” The medical staff told the couple their baby was alive; then Olivia was quickly transferred to “Children’s Memorial Harmann Hospital” in Houston Texas, it was at that hospital that they were informed that their daughter had suffered several fractures to her skull and spine; then on January 2nd Olivia Coats died. Angie coats told ABC News “we’re not mad at the hospital, this not their fault. It is one man’s fault, we only want justice for Olivia; we want the person responsible, which is the doctor. We don’t want the hospital being shunned.” The parents plan to sue Dr. Backardjiev for the death of their baby girl. The hospital administration and independent medical staff leadership are all committed in taking all necessary actions in understanding why this happened. The Houston Chronicle reports that the parents of Olivia Coats started a campaign to ban the use of forceps during delivery called “The Olivia Law.” The couple also started a fundraiser on Go Fund Me to raise awareness about the use of forceps explaining how damaging they can be, so far the…

When the locusts were gone, we planted string beans but a fire burned the whole plantation. My brothers went away because they got tired working for nothing. Mother and my sisters went from house to house, asking for something to do, but every family was plagued with some kind of disaster. The children walked in the streets looking for the fruit that fell to the ground from the acacia tree. The men hung on the fence around the market and watched the meat dealers hungrily. We were all suffering from lack of proper food.…
