Alcohol is a colorless volatile flammable liquid that is the intoxicating constituent of wine, beer, spirits, and other drinks, and is also used as an industrial solvent and as fuel. While drinking alcohol may offer some health benefits such as reduce your risk of developing heart disease, ischemic stroke, and possibly diabetes, it can also cause addiction, drunk driving, cirrhosis of the liver, high blood pressure, alcohol poisoning, kidney disease and so on.
Many authorities have question that whether advertisements about alcoholic drinks should be banned or not. Personally, I think it should be permit. Because, parents control television viewing, not beer companies. If their kids see an advertisement like that, parents should step in and explain it to them. And, if they’re not allowed to advertise their products, how are they going to get enough customers? Children should be educated about alcohol at an early age.
There is no solid evidence from either scientific research concludes that ads influence non – drinkers to begin drinking.
And thus, not every alcohol advertisement is bad. For example, Neil Patrick Harris’s latest advertisement for Heineken Light. No beer was consumed during the making of the ad.
2.potsdam.edu has stated that about 62% percent of American youth aged 12 to 17 identified their parents as a leading influence. In spite of all the colorful rhetoric and emotional anecdotes, alcohol commercials do not cause young people to drink.
In conclusion, I do not think that alcohol ads should be banned, but instead parents should educate and be a good sample, a role model for their children. Because, it is parents, rather than the ads, that greatly affected the young people.
