Budweiser Rhetorical Analysis
Since 1876 Budweiser has been an iconic and innovative alcoholic beverage company in America. (Big Buddy) Their advertisements are no different. How many alcohol companies use puppies in their ads? Matt Freeman says "What they understand is that online marketing is more about a compelling and infectious idea rather than a particular technical format or technique." (Budweiser) Numerous companies use different marketing techniques to intrigue us and enhance their product, but what significance does the use of pathos, ethos, and rhetorical appeals have?

This ad could be an astronomical setback for a company by directly addressing one of the issues of alcohol abuse. "Thirty-two percent of fatal car crashes involve an intoxicated driver or pedestrian" (About Addiction) That does not create the urge for people to run out and drink but the way Budweiser warns the consumer in the ad it builds a stronger trust of the company. The Budweiser company has been around for 120 years (Big Buddy) the brand is extremely recognizable. They build the viewer's trust through the use of ethos. Budweiser tugs on the viewer's heart with an abundance of pathos and ethos in their ads. The Budweiser company also uses rhetorical appeals to draw in the consumer, The "Friends are Waiting" ad is no exception to this advertising technique.     The screeching cry of a lost child sounds across the entire building through the crowd of people after a young boy is alone for only a minute. This image comes from an advertisement which includes a gloomy setting showing the sadness of something to appeal to the audience’s emotions. The “Quit Smoking” commercial, produced by Fiona Sharkie, starts with a mother and her child walking together through a crowd of people; toward the middle of the video, the mom and her child get separated making the child very upset and scared.
