Alex Rider Scopion Rising
One bullet. One life. The end starts here. The book I will be presenting and exploring a theme of is Scorpia Rising, the last book in the Alex Rider series. This book and the series by Anthony Horowitz are for young teens. In Scorpia Rising, Scorpia is trying to turn Alex Rider, the main character into a traitor against M16, Britain's top-secret intelligence agency.

I think the main theme is with every bad thing there is a good side, but with every good thing there is a bad side. So let’s break this main theme into pieces. A bad thing - *quote*. In this scene of the book, Alex’s caretaker and lifelong friend, Jack Starbright, is killed by unknowingly sitting on 30 pounds of explosives in a car.

The good side - *quote*. In this scene, Alex killed a clone of him named Julius. This clone has been dreaming for more than a year to kill Alex and was one of the people who contributed in killing Jack. By killing this clone, Alex has only killed one of the enemies. But killing something is better than nothing in this case.
A good thing would be that Alex has saved so many people and countries from destruction so maybe being a spy wasn’t so bad after all but the bad side is that he found and lost a best friend causing a lot of emotional pain and he now has to carry a life-time of memories. *quote*

So let me ask you one question: How much would you do for something that you want? Keep in mind that with every bad thing there is a good side, but with every good thing there is a bad side cause who said life was fair? Especially not to

The theme is the brutality of war. When the college friends were discussing about the war they’re about to take part in, Kropp said “Two years of shells and bombs a man won’t peel it off as easy as a sock” (Remarque 87). This shows the brutality of the war because it describes the effect the war puts on people is not easy to forget and for many, it’s permanent. As the friends were taking turns discussing war, Albert explained his view saying “The war has ruined us for everything” (Remarque 87). This shows brutality of war as well because it shows how broad the effect war is on people’s life. The theme of this book makes it a good book because its outcomes relates to the wars going on around the world right now. And it has important message/lesson on life in the front in the Great War, instead of just viewing the honor/patriotic part of the war it mainly focused on a very important part; fear and pressure. Thus the theme of this book is the brutality of war because of the characters description of the life at the front.…

Although stress and anxiety consistently imply an intolerable weight on Alex’s everyday actions and thoughts, he remains unified and untouched by keeping his integrity firm in position and not falling short to any tests of courage. These characteristics are clearly depicted throughout Crocodile Tears as Alex interacted with his social environment and did not fail in any life-threatening plights. To continue, the foremost example of Alex’s integrity can clearly be distinguished as Alex did not lie or deceive others when addressing his undisclosed situations unless required to do so by the M16 authorities. In an example, he confessed a majority of his missions in bright light to his housekeeper, Jack Starbright. Instead of containing his deeds in the dark trench of his mind, he openly discussed with Jack while she…

Most would agree that Alex and his droogs are committing wrong and senseless acts; but what makes the novel so interesting is how the government tries to handle Alex and his behavior. This will be my primary focus in this article, I am choosing not look at particular acts in the book but rather the themes and theological implications in the novel. I believe that Alex is changed into a being that no longer can choose between good and evil. He has become a clockwork orange.…

Before Alex went to Beijing, he had a passion for Chinese military. As he stayed in Beijing for few months, he found that there were more differences than he thought. He becomes more mature. Alex was addicted to Chinese military history, and he made many clay soldiers at his own home. When the students’ demonstration happened in Beijing, the government of China used citizens against their own people. That’s not like what Alex heard in his history stories, which talked about using enemy’s power against them (borrow the arrows). When the P.L.A used tear gas to repress those people who were in the Tiananmen Square, Alex was shocked that they would go that far. On June 4, 1989, all the P.L.As were in Tiananmen Square to arrest students, and Alex found that PLAs were not people’s army. He realized that he just found the surface of the truth.…

Scorpia, the 5th installment of the swift-paced and best-selling 'Alex rider' series by Anthony Horowitz, does not disappoint in any manner. In some aspects I personally would consider it the best book of the series so far. The book, similar to the others in the series, is focused on Alex Rider and his life as a teenage spy, and how he deals with the issues sharing a double life.…
