From the text, “Colonizing Venus with floating Cities” states, “If you could just take the room you’re sitting in and replace the walls with something thinner, the room would float on Venus” (Atkinson, 1). The author proves the fact that it would be very hard for humans to live on Venus, because the atmosphere on Venus would cause us to float. Imagine if one day you were taken to Venus and you had to float everywhere you go, everyday of your life, would it really be that easy? Also, in the story, “All Summer in a day” when it stated, “And this was because she would play no games with them in the echoing tunnels of the underground city”(Bradbury, 2). This shows that the reason why people lived underground, in the setting of the book, is because the surface of Venus was uninhabitable, because of the high temperature, the atmospheric pressure, and the fact that the atmosphere was made out of CO2. As I mentioned before it would still be nearly impossible to create an underground city, since it’s hard to do it on Earth itself! Some might say that humans could try to live miles above Venus’ atmosphere, but they do not realize the crazy exorbitant amount of money needed to put into a goal like
