The school’s reputation is badly affected after this incident. According to ABN News (2012), “His improper doings caused damage to the school’s reputation” (Para. 2). Being on scholarship, law student Alvin Tan’s actions will cause big discussions, such as the conduct and the procedure of selecting scholars. After all, Singapore’s government is sponsoring their education and scholarships should not be awarded to students with poor conduct. Alvin Tan is an embarrassment not only to NUS, but also a disgrace to Singapore, Malaysia and his family. Alvin’s actions may not be considered a crime and he may not get charged. However, it is morally wrong to post such explicit materials online without considering the serious consequences that may affect him or the society itself.
2. In your opinion, do you consider the actions of law student Alvin to be acceptable? Support your answer. (6 marks)
In my opinion, such actions should not be condoned. According to The Straits Times, "Education minister Heng Swee Keat expressed strong disapproval towards the behaviour of Mr Tan, claiming that it was unseemly of a scholar." (Jeremy Au, November 2012). Being selected as a scholarship recipient, law student Alvin Tan should follow a code of conduct, as he might be considered as a role model to many. Displaying such obscene contents may bring bad influence to the society, and may also cause disturbance to the public.

Morality does not definitely signify right or wrong, good or bad. It is the mentality of us beings, differentiating right from wrong. Bernard G.
