Years of bondage and now going into the promise of their own land to be free, the Amalekites now attack the Israeli nation and God defends them. “Mark it down and do not forget it, I will revisit this offense and avenge it.” Is what God tells Moses about the attack.

This shows God does love us and will take care of us. God does not forget those who cause strife and harm to his children and will visit in his time.
Samuel talks to Saul and informs he needs to destroy the Amalekites, to destroy everything complete to wipe them out and off the face of the earth.
Complete and total destruction is what God wanted for the people who wanted to harm to the people of promise.

In this scripture God was furious that Jews were worshiping other gods instead of him. It is shown Jeremiah was a prophet who forewarned the Jews to stop lighting incense in name of other gods and worshipping them. God even went as far to threaten the Jews with famine, war and death even then the Jews did not listen. The Jews mock, threaten and imprison the prophet continually for approximately 40 years. Until his prophecy of what god will do would came true, when Nebuchadnezzar defeats the Jews. After this the temple is destroyed the city is set to fire. Jews are left with two choices stay in Jerusalem under Babylonian rule or flee to Egypt. The Jews consult Jeremiah who say god would forgive them if they stay in Jerusalem under Babylonian rule and they would flourish as people but if they went to Egypt they will be punished and…

In Genesis chapter 6 it is stated that the world had become wicked and full of evil but verse 6 states, "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." Likewise, Ea called upon Utnapishtim saying unto him, "O man, the floods will come; now, save thyself; dismantle all thy home; with boards, construct a vessal.-water-tight and large...Preserve both man and beast without delay." The god Ea had commanded Utnapishtim to build an ark becuase of the wickedness of the rest of the world and was going to destroy everything with a worldwide flood. In Deuteronomy and the books of the period known as the Deuteronomistic History which includes Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1st and 2nd Samuel, and 1st and 2nd Kings, we read about a conflict between the Israelites and Canaanites which leads to the Conquest of Canaan. Being a conquest, its justified to call it a holy war. It is described as “Yahweh’s battle’s” in 1st Samuel chapter 25, verse 28. Never in the Old Testament is it referred to as a “holy war.” Because the Canaanites were occupying the land known as the “promised land,” the land meant for gods chosen people, the Israelites, to live on, Yahweh promised to Abraham’s descendents that they must be exterminated without mercy. He wanted all the Canaanites killed including the women and children. The Canaanites were placed “under ban” which meant they were sacrificed to Yahweh. It was though that if they allowed any Canaanite to live, they might cause religious corruption (Harris). One example is documented in the book of Joshua, when Israelite soldiers captured the city of Jericho and killed all men, women, children, and even livestock, all because they wanted to enforce the ban and gods orders.…

Throughout the history of Israel we can see the hand of God intervening in shaping of a nation which was chosen to carry out God’s will. All the events, whether it was Egypt’s frustration in trying to prevent the Hebrew people from leaving the land to worship their God, or Canaan’s surrender to Joshua are seen in history as divine intervention from God. “In other words, human politics could succeed only to the extent that they accorded with God’s will.”(Old Testament Survey pg.423).…

This topic makes me feel sad and relieved. What makes me feel this way? I feel sad because I don’t like it when my son or anybody is so upset that they act out. My son acts out by withdrawing from us to be by himself. Other people might act out by getting mad at someone who cuts them off while driving. This is called, “road rage” and is responsible for people getting cussed at, honked at, shot at and/or ran off the road. Things they probably would not do if anger didn’t take a hold of them. God, I believe does have the ability to cast these bad feelings away and renew the soul. If we would just think of what Jesus would do in this situation and act upon it. Jesus calls us to, “love one another” (John 13:34). He does not call us to hate one another. We can take a deep breath and pray and let God help us to calm down. In doing so, the bad spirit or feeling will subside allowing us to influence…
