People with mental disorders are misunderstood. They not always understand what is wrong with them or that sometimes their actions are inappropriate or wrong. In Nathaniel’s case, he realized that him yelling at Steve Lopez was inappropriate.
What Nathaniel Anthony Ayers does is quite impressive. He plays three instruments, including the cello, the violin, and the double-bass. At the time that Mr. Lopez met Nathaniel, Nathaniel had a violin that only had two strings, but he played his heart out like his violin was complete. He believed his violin was complete, but the closer and closer he got to Steve, he got closer and closer to having an actually complete violin and cello.
The difference between the film and the novel is that Nathaniel never got to meet Yo-Yo Ma. While reading the novel I wanted to see what actor would play Yo-Yo Ma. It was a disappointment to see that they did not play the scene where Nathaniel sees Yo-Yo Ma for the first time since
