Compare and Contrast Essay
There are many differences between the book and the movie “The Outsiders”. It is surprising how many differences and similarities one can find in between the book and the movie that is what I will be doing today. Hope that you enjoy.
Now let’s talk about the differences in the book there were plenty of differences but for this paragraph I will only be listing four differences. One difference was that kid’s were playing 52 Card Pickup and Dally and Pony and Two-Bit chase the kids. Another is that PB gets pushed down by Darry and in the book PB is slapped I would not like for that to happen to me. The third difference is that Pony and Johnny gets PB and Bologna and in the book Johnny gets Bologna and bread(The Reason
that is, is because Johnny and Pony went to the church because Johnny had killed a Soc). The fourth difference is that at the end of the movie is that it ends with Pony having bad grades and that is not shown in the book.
There are also many similarities in the book. One similarity is that the Outsiders have the same characters in the book as in the movie. Another similarity is that the Soc’s and the Greasers have the same conflict with each other they do not like each other in the book nor in the movie. Then there was that Cherry likes Pony, and Johnny throughout the book Cherry helps them with their problem. One last similarity is that the gang sticks together and watches out for each others backs as thing go on in life like Soda sticks out for Pony and Pony sticks up for Soda.
Now let’s talk about the theme there were plenty but I chose one and that theme was “To stick with your friends”. Friends always stick together just like Soda and Pony. They stuck out for each other in the rumble and in other places. The Outsiders I feel was a friend based book and movie they all stuck up for each other and that’s how it should be in life too. Always stick with your friends and watch out for each other.
