Main Points
1. IMPLEMENTATION: The American Revolution is what implemented the
Enlightenment ideas. Without it, they would not have been proven to be true and many less people would have followed them. The american government were the first to implement the Enlightenment ideas and the French saw that, so they decided to follow
America’s example. For instance, the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen was directly inspired by the American’s Declaration of Independence.
2. IDEALS/DIPLOMACY: As my group has previously stated, the Declaration of Rights of
Man and Citizen Was was based on the American Declaration for Independence. Their declaration was inspired by America, it began as a way to form a new political blueprint, like America. The French soldiers returned from the war after the successful
American Revolution, and it inspired them and promulgated their ideas.
3. MONEY: France in debt due to helping the Americans. France wanted America win their revolution against England, so France came into serious financial debt trying to aid the Americans in defeating the British
Conclusion The American Revolution had a greater impact on the French Revolution due to it’s implementation of Enlightenment Ideals in everyday life. For the three main reasons we stated: Implementation of Enlightenment ideas, American Diplomacy, and the poor economic state of France were all
