Does the story of Siddhartha's adventure fit into Joseph Campbell's hero's journey?
In the book “Siddhartha” by Hermann Hesse the main character has a journey that mirrors the hero's journey through the uses of, mentors, the abyss, an atonement. Throughout the novel Siddhartha has mentors that come and go, but the wisest of all his mentors was an old river man named Vasudeva. Sidhartha hit a low point after all the gambling that he had been doing. He had a representative dream about Kamala's songbird dying, and Siddhartha took that dream as sign. he was unhappy and ran off without telling anyone. he ended up in the river and he began to contemplate suicide.“He bent down with closed eyes-towards death.” (Page 89). In conclusion the novel siddhartha closely relates to the hero's journey by the use of meteors, abyss, and the atonement. These points are only the few of many points of the hero's journey.
