There are good and bad character traits of a leader. One trait of an effective leader is a tough leader. The reason why is because if a leader is not tough none of his people will take him seriously and some may disobey him. Another trait of an effective leader is being smart. The reason why is because if the leader is not smart he will make bad decisions and ruin his kingdom. One last trait is courageous. There were four main kings in Frankish times.
King Clovis, Charles Martel, Pepin and Charlemagne. They were all great brave leaders who never backed down from any challenge. All of the kings were tough too so that people would take them seriously. All of them followed Christianity and wanted all of their people to convert to Christianity. King Clovis was the first king of the Franks to unite all his people. He was the founder of the Merovingian clan. Charles “the hammer” Martel was the savior of Christendom. He fought the Muslims and defeated them. Pepin on the other hand was the first king from the Carolingian clan. Pepin was the younger son of Charles Martel. Charlemagne was one of the greatest kings of the dark ages. He united most of the western empire. In the year 800 he became the first Holy Roman Emperor since the fall of Rome. He wanted his empire to learn so that they would be smart. So, he built
schools. The men liked King Clovis, Charles Martel, Pepin and Charlemagne. They all liked how they were tough because that meant that they would keep their family safe and secure. I would also like these leaders because they all helped in a battle or just any conflict at all. Men like that because it shows how brave the leader and how much he defends his kingdom. My definition of a leader is someone who takes charge and is not afraid to. The reason why I say that is because all the leader that were spoke of took great charge and never backed down or was afraid of anything. In conclusion, most important kings were King Clovis, Charles Martel, Pepin and Charlemagne. They all had many amazing accomplishments during their reign that helped shape out the Frankish Empire. They all helped with Christianity. Finally, all the kings of the Frankish empire had good and bad character traits that either made people In the empire like him or dislike him.
