Introduction
Inclusive learning is about making sure that every learner in the classroom has their needs identified and met. It is about realising that every learner will have specific individual needs and it is the job of the teacher to accommodate the needs of all of their learners.
Main Body
The main area to focus on is differentiation, the teacher should be able to correctly identify the different levels and needs of their learners, and then differentiate accordingly, which should be one of the …show more content…
most effective ways of creating inclusive learning.
According to Dickinson and Wright (1993) Differentiation is ‘not a single event, it is a process.
This process involves recognising a variety of individual needs, providing appropriate delivery and evaluating the effectiveness of the activities in order to maximize the achievements of individual students.
Teacher/lecturer should ensure that the subject they teach is taught in a way that the student/learners can understand.
This would encourage the learner or engage the learner to get involved with the lesson. The teacher’s role includes the 5 stages of the teaching cycle, such as; identifying needs, planning and designing, delivery, assess and evaluation.
The teaching must identify the needs of the learner, such as interviews, diagnostic assessment, induction, what skills or qualifications they already have, if they have any disabilities or learning disabilities for example Dyslexia.
It is important that the teacher identifies the needs of their learners so that they can design the lesson to reflect the individual needs and plan and design the lesson, which meets the needs of the learners and requirements of the subject being taught.
Good communication skills, such as aural and listening are vital as a teacher and must be effective as well as efficient when communicating with learners. Lack of communication can end up with the learner not understanding the lesson/subject or understanding it incorrectly.
It is the teacher’s responsibility to deliver a lesson, which is appropriate for the learners, and to ensure that they understand their aims and objectives taking into an account their individual needs e.g. different learning …show more content…
styles: visual, aural, read/write and kinesthetic (VARK)
Another approach to inclusive learning is having additional support for the learners with additional educational needs (AEN). This can be in the form of a teaching assistant or in some more severe cases a carer or learning support assistant (LSA).
Wright define differentiation as
‘… the planned process of intervention in the classroom that maximises potential based on individual needs.’ (Dickinson and Wright 1993)

Summary
All learners are different and have different ways of learning they should be encouraged to achieve their aims and objective to their full potential.
To be able to deliver effective and inclusive teaching sessions a framework is necessary. The teaching training cycle gives a basic framework that is flexible and adaptable. Identifying needs and planning, designing with planning, facilitating, assessing and evaluating, which then feeds back into identifying learners needs stage.
Blooms (1956) stated that learning goes through stages, these are called domains, cognitive, affective and psychomotor
When planning learning, teachers need to consider which domain they want to reach, for an effective classroom management, for e.g. I found out while doing my micro teach that I had to find and adapt several learning style before I actually got the group to interact and enjoy the lesson. My learners prefer to see the work/explanation on power point and go through the lesson step by step instead of just writing and doing work sheets. I ensure that the power point was based on the subject being taught and included group activities also related to the subject, which they
enjoyed.
