A change I would make in the setting would be during the winter on the plantation where it was always cold during the winter I would instead make it normal type weather. This impacts the story based on how long the slaves we be able to cook their food as well as how much sleep they would be able to receive.

31) After reading Up From Slavery by Booker T. Washington I highly recommend this book to anyone willing to grasp the understanding of the black culture. This book goes in depth of one individual's life as a recently freed slave and struggles that come with being a different race.
