I didn’t really have any expressive intention
for this painting; I just wanted to paint something for fun. I came to this solution by I mean I think this task itself was a challenge with handling the ink, finding the right amount to dilute the ink with water, and trying to figure out the right shades of ink to use on the piece of paper. I used the value scale obviously because the only colors I could use in this piece were black, grey, and white. The texture was a rough text I used to create with my brushstrokes. I think the balance in my painting is a symmetrical balance because if you were to split the paper in half it would be evened out. For shape, I think that I am using geometric shapes because of the half circle I used and the rectangle I used in my piece of work.
Some things I have learned from this assignment is trying learn how to properly use ink and your paintbrush. I have learned that if I want to get a good grade in art I will have to work twice as hard because I am not that good at it. No, I do not think my painting communicates what I am trying to show because of the meaning behind this painting. I would try to revise as much of the painting that had unwanted spots, smudges, and incorrect value on the paper.
