For example, they were all cramped raft for about 3 days with no water. Finally, it had finally started to rain, and the crew, parched, "...men threw back their heads, spilled their bodies back, spread their arms, and opened their mouths..."(Hillenbrand). They knew the water wouldn't last, so he looked around the raft, and had found a canvas case, and has ripped it and stitched it to have a sort of triangular look to it, and water poured into it easily, until a whitecap had pushed the raft, causing Louie to lose all his water. To Phil and Louie, It seemed as if the future was close, and how they could go through anything together, and to Mac, It was something that would never come; that was a tragedy since it caused him to lose his hope, and lead to his death. Our protagonist in this story is Louie, and the character that Is like him is Phil. Phil is important to his survival, as he would keep him sane, that was a very big part that played in his survival. He would ask him questions that would relate to his personal life. For example, his mother's cooking, specific memories, and what he wants for the future; this makes him looking forward to the future, that he has a chance to stay alive.
