Analysis Of Millennials And Baby Boomer Generations
Millennials represent the most radical change in society’s ideologies since the Baby Boomer generation. With ideals and values such as a communal approach to management, this generation is redefining how an organization develops, engages with employees, and responds to today’s technological advancements (Huyler, Ding, Norelus, & Pierre, 2015). Although this generation was brought up with technology, this does not condone them bringing the personal aspect of it to work with them. I am 31 years old, so I am at the beginning of the millennial generation. I feel I am a cross of the millennial and baby boomer generations. I am a firm believer that personal business is not to be brought into the workplace. I also believe, there is no impact
on your work based on how you are dressed.
In my personal experience, millennials are contagious to baby boomers. Millennials are a source of change within the organization in several ways. Engagement with millennial workers who spend more time with their family and friends, and have diverse personal interests outside the workplace, cause more senior workers to reconsider their own values (Myers, K. K., & Sadaghiani, 2010).
Although Marion Saltzman seems to be a smart woman, and it seems, as the saying goes “if you can’t beat them, join them, that this would be the ideal thing to do; you must question yourself, is the work ethic improved or devalued if the workplace is conformed to fit the millennials.
