Summary of “The Immigrant Experience”
“The Immigrant Experience”, also titled “The Anguish of becoming American” is a collective book, consisting of nine thoughtprovoking biographical stories. It gives us a clear view on how hard it was for people to overcome racial and ethnic problems to get to where we are today. It is not hard to believe that much of the efforts behind building this country came from the early immigrants that brought about a population movement.
Thomas Wheeler brilliantly collects experiences from those early immigrants and presents us with their social and economic origins. The stories are based on different contributors but all convey the same message of the hardship conquered by early migrants to the USA. In his

Here he ends his thesis based on the fact that American’s lack culture and a traditional life. However, we can not really predict his main point of view.
The stories in the book are more like essays written by nine thoughtful authors from different parts of the world, each describing how their people contributed in the making of the
US, as well as the influence American people and culture had on them. Some stories are based on the weather and harshness of the frontier while others are focused on cities and the ideas that came from many cultures forced together. The opinions in the stories only add to the quality of
