Analysis Of The Song 'Scars To Your Beautiful'
The song “Scars to your beautiful” written by Alessia Cara, sends out a message to women growing up with societies rigid beauty standards to love them selves. This song gives me a feeling of disgust as it revealed to me how disturbing society’s expectations are, targeting vulnerable young women and making them feel as though they are not enough. The lyrics also gives me a sense of sadness in the realization that so many girls are effected by societies expectation and the anxiety it causes.

the opening verse sets the tone for the rest of the song with the statement “She just wants to be beautiful”. This is a common occurrence in todays society as there is so much emphasis on appearances. The girl aspires to be deemed as “pretty”, she is obsessed

    In the essay of “There Is No Unmarked Woman”, Deborah Tannen explains it best through the statement that “There is no unmarked woman” (Tannen 412).
