The welfare state is the concept of the state which accepts responsibility for the welfare of its citizens and suggests the state plays a major role to protect and support the social and economic policies for citizens (Welfare state, 2017). In that sense the government produces certain policies to satisfy basic needs for its citizens by using public resources within its borders. In particular, the needs of citizens, such as health, education and low cost housing, are provided by the state. In addition to this, it protects its citizens from the inequality in society and tries to increase the welfare of its citizens. In Sweden, all citizens benefit equally from the social rights offered by the Swedish welfare state because that system is based on the idea of egalitarianism and the Swedish welfare state is seen as a state with a strong family policy that ensures women’s participation in the labor market (Nilsson, 2010 p.209). Family policy is the most fundamental element underlying the Swedish welfare state system because the effects of family policies have led to the formation of other policies. Additionally, there is an equality between men and women. Women are still both unpaid at home and wage-labor in workplace, but men are totally focused on their career. Developed family politics and studies on equality between women and men has made it possible for women to be stronger in social life, but it has not destroyed the perception of male dominated
