Children’s lives are changed by bullies every year all over the world, especially for Jamie Nabozny, a student in Ashland, Wisconsin. He was homosexual from a young age and constantly got bullied because of it. Every day at school, he would be bullied verbally and physically. After one ruthless attack, he was hospitalized and had surgery. He had been studying when one of the bullies walked up to him, kicked the books out of his hand, and kept on kicking him. Once he was finished, he leaned down and whispered in Jamie’s ear, “If you tell anyone, I’ll kill you.” This put Jamie over the line and he decided to act. He brought it to court trying to sue the school district for not protecting him. Our focus of the topic is to analyze the problem and how we – League of World Social Health Organization, under the leadership of United Nations help to cope with this problem. I am the CEO of the organization and am responsible for introducing the topic – bullying to the audience and the 5 basic questions of bullying. Then, Anna, being the researcher of the team, proposes a case study of bullying, which is a novel “Townie” written by Andre Dubus III, illustrating his childhood of being bullied by street gangs and schoolmates. Yet in this case, it showed positive consequence that he became more independent and physically strong to overcome the difficulties. She then showed a suicide note written by a victim, showing the worst result ever of being bullied and isolated as mentioned in his note. Joseph is the next speaker, who is an expert and professor for analyzing information and characteristics of bully and victim. He showed data of the occurrence of bullying during our early stage of life and the pattern of bullying like gender distribution. Personalities of the bully are the opposite of the victims; such as being submissive as a victim and possessive as a bully. The purpose of outlining the significant of the bully and the victim is to arouse the attention of audience and identify whether people beside you have the similar problem. The earlier the discovery of these problems, the easier to reach the solution. The stage is then passed on to Anson, who is the manager of our team. His job is to show the short term and long term effect of bulling, with the resolution to pin-point. Last but not least, I will be doing the wrap-up of the whole presentation – call for action. We believe that the problem – bullying is still there if we don’t fix it, yet if we could take the first step or stop bullying, more victims will be revealed and minimized the impact on society. “Where…
Yaszek speaks highly about the futuristic history Butler narrates in terms of the racial and gender discrimination. She writes about the shift of the protagonist’s gender, the significant impact of slavery and the meeting of alien other. The gender of the protagonist is switched as the female figure can better recount the misery of slavery, especially for black women. The slavery is the matter of entire bloodline; Butler aims to deliver the impact of it and analyze the deterioration of it. Yaszek highlights Butler’s attempt to recreate a history through the use of “alien other”, a history created by the women oppressed by the patriarchy. The intense correspondences can be found between this article and “Kindred”. The most notable overlap is…

In the visual poem To This Day by Shane Koyczan is about bullying. There is a picture in the video of a girl with a lion head, a skull and a lot of lines around her head. The lion head represents what she thinks she looks like because of what the people call her. The skull represents all the people thinking about harming themselves because of the names they’re being called. The lines around her head symbolize everybody bullying her and she cant get a break. In conclusion these symbols symbolize the overall effect bullying can have on a…
In the poem, “To This Day” By Shane koyczan he shows a bibliography about bullying and how it affects people. And how he got bullied as a kid. People need to understand that what they say doesn't just go one ear out the other. People can be extremely hurtful without knowing it. One thing that kids said from the poem is, “kids used to say she looks like a wrong answer that someone tried to erase but couldn’t quite get the job done”. That is just one of the many things kids said. The quote shows that even if people think i can't get worse that is usually when it does. But the problem is that people dont understand the scar that they leave when they do those…

Throughout our chapter on Death, we have seen many characters attempt to escape it. They all equally fail, as some attempt to succeed out of their own selfishness, while others do so for a noble cause. The Grandmother from “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” when faced with death, thinks only of herself and not for the lives of her family. Ivan Ilyich found the finite pleasures of his life slowly being taken away from him as he got sicker and sicker. Fetyukov of “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” incrementally sacrificed his dignity in order to survive the harsh environment in the gulag. Finally, Guido Orefice from “Life is Beautiful” demonstrated how to selflessly attempt to defy death, not for his own sake, but for the sake of his family.…
Aristotle was Plato’s prize pupil who discussed the types of moments where moral correctness may be applied to certain events, nature of virtues involved in the sound morality of humans as well as the ways to achieve happiness in one’s life. The overall question that Aristotle tends to ask himself and try to answer is the question that pertains to human character and personality, what do we as humans need to do, to be considered as a good person. Aristotle explained that every activity has a final cause and purpose at which it aims to achieve and he argued that since there is not an infinite amount of goods, there has to be one type of good that is the highest and most important which humans strive towards. He continues to describe this ultimate good and decided that it could be called happiness, however the only puzzling question left is, what is happiness? Due to its existence in so many forms it is tough to describe happiness as one true thing…
The movie ‘Bully’ is a documentary and the message that it delivers is both troubling as well as moving. It shows us how some kids are constant sources of misery to others whom they consider to be different from the masses. Bullying has become a norm of our society and it is especially common in classrooms, cafeterias, school buses as well as in a principal’s office or in the teacher’s room. (Marriner, 3)…
90% of all students between 4th and 8th grade are bullied physically or verbally during their schooling. I was one of those students – told daily that I was fat and never going anywhere in life. Bullying continues to tremble the ground with its every advancing step and scare its’ victims and bystanders with its extensive roar. Bullying was something that walked into my life in elementary school and tortured me throughout middle school. Nonetheless, I did not lose hope and I fought back.…
Bullying exists in many forms which affect people physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Bullying is when a person or group of people use intimidation, insults or violence to make another individual feel scared or inferior. The views and beliefs about bullying have changed. Years ago it used to be considered as not a danger to the victim and that it would help children learn how to “toughen up.” Now bullying is considered a health issue as well as a threat. Bullying is no longer considered just a school age problem. It can continue or start for people at high school age, college age or even as an adult. More recently the awareness of bullying has brought the…
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt… “ That statement couldn’t be further from the truth. How often have someone implied that words are meaningless and couldn’t possibly be hurt by them? “You’re stupid; you’re ugly; nobody likes you” are words most bullied victims may hear on a regular basis, words that can permeate through ones psyche emotionally, ones that can... well hurt. When we hear of someone being bullied, a normal humane reaction is to gravitate towards the victim and there is nothing wrong with that. Bullying is immoral, its indecorous, simply put – bullying is just mean. However, no one ever takes into consideration that bullies too might be victims, perhaps a victim of circumstance, of life or abuse. This is not to suggest that bullying is a suitable approach to coping with life’s challenges; unfortunately for some, it can be a defense mechanism.…
