present can intensify the story so much knowing that the characters might use those weapons to harm or even kill a person or animal. In my opinion weaponry and violence are a key principle in making the novel True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle so enjoyable to the reader.
Say a student or a novel writer wanted to write a book just as astounding as Avi’s novel True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. If they wanted the reader to believe they were actually in the story even more, their first choice would be weapons and violence because this topic in particular is so action filled on it’s own that it can change someone's opinion on the book. Avi writes “ It was in that moment, Jaggery fired his musket at Cranick” As the story goes on Cranick has been shot right in the middle of the chest and has died while screaming a painful cry. The only remains of life were a little pink bubbles popping from Cranick’s lips. Weaponry can be absolutely terrifying!
On the other hand weapons don’t have to be for violence or mutiny. It could be a souvenir, keepsake, or in this case as the book tells us, Zachariah giver the dirk to Charlotte for protection and it soon is used to help her when she’s a crew worker to cut ropes and whatnot.
In conclusion, weapons are a key principle. The book would not be as good as it is.
