The Lie Detector In today’s world people are not believable. The people that you shouldn’t trust are judged to be marvelous people. On the other hand good people are misjudged as lousy people. This is what make the world corrupt. In the case of Adnan Syed vs. the state there was only one testimony by someone named Jay. Jay’s testimony is inconsistent because he is lying: about the call made from Best Buy, Jay tampered with evidence, Jay knows the location of Hae’s car and changes where he picks up Adnan, Jay’s inconsistencies with digging the hole for Hae’s body, and Jay is uncooperative with the police. Firstly, Jay’s testimony is inconsistent because he is lying about …show more content…
The location of Hae’s car couldn’t be found by no one which includes the police. According to Jay, “I saw Hae’s body in her own car” (“The Intercept”). After that they head to Patapsco State park. Patapsco State park is a huge cliff. At that location Adnan and Jay talk about the murder, but Jay didn’t make any suggestions. Jay is a character you can’t tell if he says he doesn’t do something he might end up changing his story. On a side note Adnan and Jay were in Hae’s car this is very important. In one interview Jay said,” I just dropped Adnan off somewhere in the city and picked him up somewhere else in the city” (“Inconsistencies”). Another time Jay said, “I went to pick him up from Edmonson Avenue at a strip and he uh, popped, the trunk open and…” (“Inconsistencies”). The time Jay went to pick up Adnan was 3:45p.m.-4:15p.m. This is the time Jay left her friend Jenn’s house. Edmonson Avenue is important because Jay led the cops to Hae’s car, but at the same time that was the location Jay picked up Adnan. In another interview Jay said that Adnan stated, “I am going to kill that bitch” (“The Alibi”). Apparently Jay wasn’t present for the murder at Best Buy in another interview. Jay had just lied about being present for the murder to not being present. The reason he lied is because he figured there were cameras in the Best Buy Parking lot. The specific reason Jay lied about the scene of …show more content…
Jay had started off by saying, “Adnan only dug the hole” (“The Alibi”). Then in a few minutes later he just goes from the answer yes to no. It gets even harder to believe Jay because he knows the hole is 6 inches deep. Jay was asked, “Who did most of the digging?” (“The Alibi”). He didn’t answer the question, but the cop that is interrogating him finished the question for Jay. The cop Said,” Both of you” (“The Alibi”). This is quite weird because Jay takes a long time to answer these questions. If Jay is telling the truth he would have the answers and not have to think about making something up. Another story change according to Jay, “It takes Adnan about, half an hour, 45 minutes…” (“The Intercept”). This makes no sense because Jay never includes this in his other interviews. When looking at all Jay’s stories and comparing them you know for a fact he is lying out of the
