Decisions made by those in charge are to be respected, followed, if anyone were to not live up to the standard proved administrative action can be utilized. Cultural challenges is one of the challenges one may face being a part of the fire service. Since the service is always growing many members will face diversity, since each member have their wants and needs. Member will have to learn to adjust and accommodate. “Many firefighters are resistant to change in all forms, including diversity, revised tactics an regulations, an new procedures for controlling a fire.” (Stowell, 2013). A key to success is one must be willing to be flexible and accept change. Another challenge that many fire service members face is a difference in personal characteristics, as everyone comes from a different background and have different beliefs. Each member has their own views about how we see ourselves and how we see the world. These view are shaped by peers, family, experiences, education and faith. Due to these differences problems may occur, and it is up to the individual firefighter and its chain of command to learn and understand. Sprinkler systems are a system of pipes that is usually overhead piping, it is designed according the standard. Sprinkler are activated when heat is present, once heat is detected the sprinkler heads discharge water. The systems are supervised using a central station, if a system is activated the fire department will be notified. Along with sprinkler systems alarm systems are used, these two systems aid in fire suppression and the aid in providing a safe environment for people.
