1. Abortion - The History of abortion goes back as far as ancient times because it's the only way to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. The methods are countless. (including the administration of abortifacient herbs, the use of sharpened implements, the application of abdominal pressure, and other techniques.) In 1973 in the United States Supreme court ruled that abortion was illegal unless it was to save the life of the mother. The case was Roe v. Wade and it took place on January 22, 1973. Crucial abortion battles are expected on the state level and runs through the judicial branch in our government. My ideology on this topic is that the problem with abortion in our today's world is that some people believe it’s not right for people to kill babies that haven’t had a chance to live, while other people argue that women should be able to do what they want with their bodies. In past research it’s shown that when the abortion rate went up, there were far less criminals
2. Gun Control- Gun control generally refers to laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. Gun control is dated back to 1934 when Franklin D Roosevelt issued the National Firearms Act of 1934. It states that there must be a restrictive $200 tax on the manufacture or sale of machine guns and sawed-off shotguns. All sales were to be recorded in a national registry. This spurred the bloody Tommy Gun era which was led by Al Capone. In the District of Columbia V. Heller in 2008, the United States Supreme Court addressed the matter directly and came to the conclusion that the individual has the rights to bear arms is indeed protected by the Second Amendment. This social issue is on federal and state levels. But the U.S government is prompting a growing amount of bills in the State legislatures aimed at defying federal control over firearms.
