Ban Animal Experimenting With the exact number unknown, the USDA reports more than 100 million animals every year suffer and die in cruel chemical, drug, food and cosmetic tests, biology lessons, medical training exercises and curiosity-driven medical experiments. Each year animals are subjected to experiments so painful and damaging that no one would ever do on any human being. As experimenting on animals is immoral we should stop using animals for experiments. Animal experimentation, also known as animal testing, animal research, and in vivo testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments. Animal testing is very cruel. Animals are kept in boxes or cages that they can barely move in. They are tested to what substance cause pain, stress or even both. Animal testing kills about 50 percent of animals and the others end up injured. United States laws allows animals to be drowned, poisoned, addicted to drugs, isolated, starved, shocked, burned, and brain damaged. Animals are infected with diseases that they would not normally contract, tiny mice grow tumors as large as their own bodies, kittens are purposely blinded, rats are made to suffer seizures and primates skulls are cut open and electrodes are implanted in them. Experimentators force-feed chemicals to animals, conduct repeated surgeries on them, implant wires in their brains, crush their spines, and much more. After enduring these terrifying, painful procedures, animals are then usually dumped back into a cage without any painkillers. No experiment, no matter how painful or trivial is prohibited and painkillers are not required. Animals languish in pain, ache with loneliness and long to roam free and use their minds. Experimenting on animals should be illegal around the country; it is only cruelty to innocent animals. In the United States, The Animal Welfare Act appears to set minimum requirements for the humane treatment of non-human animals in labs and other settings, but in fact is very effective. Animals have rights. Animal rights is the idea that some or all non-human animals are entitled to the possession of their own lives, and that their most basic interest- such as an interest in not suffering- should be afforded the same consideration as the similar interests of human beings. “Non-human animals have interests and those interests ought not to be discriminated against on the basis of species membership alone” –Khaliah Eglington, chief executive of the Dr. Hadwen and RSPCA senior scientist. Just as humans do not experiment on humans who are incapable of consenting to experimentation, humans should not experiment on non-human animals. Non-human animals can not inform content. Animals cannot talk for their selves but humans can. Humans should take a stand and talk for the animals and see the pain they are going through and put a stop to it. Humans believe animals have the right to not to be exploited as experimental subjects, but humans also convince that animal research harms humans by diverting research dollars that should be going to prove methods of curing diseases. Animals are dying and suffering in laboratories every day. However, regardless of how large the cages are or whether the animals are anesthetized before they are cut open, vivisection is esthetical to animal rights because animals have a right to be free from experimentation, imprisonment, and killing. Studies in esteemed publications such as the Journal of the American Medical Association and the British Medical Journal have repeatedly concluded that because of the fundamental biological differences among species, animal tests do not reliably predict outcomes in humans. Animals’ tests are not reliable. Animals are being killed and suffered to try new products out for humans when humans and animals are dissimilar. Medicine or a cosmetic ingredient that is safe on animals may not be on people or vise-versa. For example, aspirin is toxic to mice and rats but not to human beings. 92 out of 100 drugs that pass animal tests is a failure to humans. Science and technology moves faster than research protocols. Non-animal methods usually take less time to complete than the crude, archaic animal tests that they replace. The replacement of animal testing and experimentation with non-animal technique often yields both ethical and technical disadvantages. There are various alternative sciences that are created so animal testing can end. The world has changed drastically and now has updated technology. Instead of cutting an damaging the brains of rats, cats, and monkeys progressive researchers who are interested in studying the human brain are using advanced human based brain-imaging and regarding techniques such as MRI, fMRI, EEG, CT, and PET. These moderns techniques allows the human brain to be safely studied down to the level of a single neuron, and researchers can even temporarily and reversibly induce brain disorders using transcranial megnetical stimulators. Not only do these techniques eliminate the use of animals, the obstacle of interspecies extrapolation, they also provide rich data about the human brain that could not be ascertained through the use of animals. Non-animal research methods would include human-based micro dosing in vitro technology, human patient stimulators, and sophisticated computer modeling. Instead of using non-volunteering animals, scientists could use volunteering humans. Discontinuing animal testing would leave innocent animals alive and safe. Animal testing is killing and causing harm to numerous of innocent animals around the world. Scientists use animals to test cosmetics, medicines, and lots of other products humans use each and every day. Many labs are burning, shocking, torturing, and starving animals without any pain relief. There should be more enforced and strict laws against animal experimenting. There should be a change and make all animal research illegal.
