Humans domesticated animals many years ago, which is one of the main reasons why “pets” exist. Sadly, some people are incapable of taking care of an animal, even a human. These types of people mistreat animals terribly, whether it is by neglect or actual physical abuse. Many see animals as unequal, and they devalue their lives by treating them differently. No animal should be neglected or abused in any way, shape or form. Not only is it unethical for a human to abuse an animal physically, it is especially wrong for humans to raise animals to be killed and processed for consummation in terrible conditions. Yes, many humans eat animals since it has been the way of life for millions of years, but that does not mean humans have to disregard the malnourishment and unsanitary environments of animals. If animals were raised to live long, healthy lives on farms and were let to die of natural causes, it would be different when consuming the animal because no slaughter or neglect took place. Realistically, one detail that is overlooked is the fact that humans are not meant to eat meat, but are said to be omnivores anyway. Other animals are naturally meant to be carnivores, but humans are not. Whether or not humans decide to stop eating meat is personally up to them, but our bodies are not meant to ingest meat. This just goes to show that humans have been so used to eating meat that most of us cannot picture a life without
