Society of Equals
In the “Animal Farm” fairy tale story, it told a story about a lot of interesting past and current events going on in society. But it was mostly related to the mid 1900s during the World War II. Although the story talked about different aspects of society in a “fantasy-like” way, it was all so realistic. The idea that George Orwell used animals on a farm to represent the government and its people was fascinating. It made the story come alive and made me want to read it. Did I mention that this was my first time ever reading this book? The aspect that was most attention-grabbing to me was the society of equals. Or should the government step in to guarantee equal outcomes? An idea that every citizen had the opportunity to thrive, succeed and achieve based on their hard work and abilities. People are free to succeed or fail based on their own qualities. The government did not provide advantages or a “safety net” for its citizens. It’s essentially up to a person whether or not he or she succeeds or fails. The government just gives you the key and it’s up to you whether you open the door or keep it close.
The purpose of the government is to provide things that are necessary to meet the needs of people. Like in the story the pigs provided the other animals with the laws and responsibilities necessary for the success of the farm. But it was solely up to each individual animal whether or not they wanted to listen to the pigs. The government should ensure and protect the rights of all citizens equally. The pigs protected the animals by enforcing the fact that all humans were evil and that they should protect all animals from them. Also, the government’s main focus it to protect and defend its
