Abstract

Many people have heard of the phrase animal testing but perhaps none of them actually know what it is or what it is involved with. Animal testing refers to experimentation, which is carried out on animals; it is used to ensure safety and effectiveness from medication to cosmetics. While some supporters consider it as a necessary practice, others believe it involves the torture of animals thus they oppose its use. Animal testing is conducted

Many of the treatments we have today for serious diseases have come from animal research. Animal research is the use on non-human animals in research with the intent to determine the safety of substances for human use or consumption. It has been recorded that the use of animals in research has been going on as far back as the Greeks proven from their writings. Aristotle who lived in the 4th century BC was one of the first who put forth the idea of using animals for the purpose of scientific research. Several products and medications are first tested on animals for safety or to check the associated side effects of the products. It has been found that every year millions of different kinds of animals are used only for the purpose of experimentation, which is often a horrifying experience for the animals. Animal testing is banned in several countries; however, it is still found that many developed countries undertake this practice. Animal testing debate had two groups at loggerheads, one of which was in favor of this practice and other against it. While the debate surrounding this issue continues, the arguments that each of these two groups resort to have changed considerably. I’m pro animal testing due to my beliefs, which are that human beings should exploit animals but not harm them. Given below area some questions will describe the point of view of the two groups whether pro animal testing or against animal

To continue, animal testing is experiments preformed on animals. This testing is completed as scientists introduce products to an animal's physical body, to observe reactions. While there are a few alternative options to animals testing, they are less relaible. Animals are tested on because their bodies function in a way similar to a human body, providing an effective way to predict how something would affect humans. This means that animal testing can prevent the harming of humans. Basically, animal testing is testing completed on…

Animal research is a very popular topic of debate. The start of animal testing started in the seventeenth century in the United Kingdom (Murnaghan, Ian). About 26 million animals are used in the United States for scientific research (Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing). As more companies started in the 1900’s, the number of animals being used for research rapidly went up (Murnaghan).…

Rammy Mekhilef Mr. Drake H Lang and Comp April 20th, 2009 Animal Testing for Research ' Pro side The death of one dog vs. saving the life of many diabetic humans. Which would you pick? Diabetes caused many deaths before insulin was discovered from the pancreas of a dog. After insulin was discovered, it could be injected into the bloodstream to keep the insulin level high. Along with this, much of our medicinal discoveries are experimented on different types of animals. Many people support the banning of experimentation of animals but what they are really supporting is the hindering of scientific advancement. We would not be where we are today without futuristic discoveries without making few sacrifices. One of these sacrifices is the lives of animals. As long as the animal has the capabilities of providing new information, and is not an endangered species, it should have approved usage in science laboratories and departments. Scientific testing on animals should be legal because it provides valuable information, it is safer, and it develops medicinal discoveries. A lot of valuable information comes from testing medicine and other sciences on animals. “Testing drugs in animals before doing so in humans helps researchers find potential toxic side effects, as well as understand the metabolism of drug compounds and consequent effects seen throughout the body” (Cook). Scientists rather would have toxic side effects appear on animals rather than the drug appearing on the market with people unaware that the drug is actually harmful. Also, animal testing is surprisingly one of the most advanced types of research we have today. Other methods are not advanced enough because researchers do their best to keep the kill count low, while also being beneficial to science. Only 6% of animals who are used for research actually experience pain (Animal Testing Facts: Home). Science research should be tested on animals because it is much better than being tested on humans and…

Defining animal testing for medical purposes is very important to be able to understand and critically analyze the argument of whether it is just or not. To define animal research simply, it is the procedure in which researchers in laboratories use animals as controlled subjects to test different drugs, surgeries, and other such things. Animals are used because although they are clearly not identical to human beings,…

When it comes to the topic of animal testing, most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic. Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the conversation if animal testing is necessary. Whereas some are convinced that using animals for testing has contributed to many lifesaving cures and treatments, others maintain that these animals are very different from humans and, therefore, make poor test subjects. My own view is these animals have produced many treatments, but not outcomes that are effective enough in the human body, therefore should not be using animals.…

Animal Testing, a cruel and heartless act that people practice. They make animals suffer so much. Cruel experiments with all types of animals, with rats, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and even chimps. Everyday more and more of these helpless animals are tortured with, experimented with, some unimaginable experiments taking place in these cruel labs. Animal testing, also known as animals experimentation, animal research and in vivo testing, is the use of non-human animals in experiments that seek to control the variables that affect the behavior or biological system under study. Animals should not be used for product or medical research.…

Animals are usually confined to small cages and being exposed to harmful fumes for human benefit. In their “Animal” Journal, Elisabeth H. Ormandy and Catherine Schuppli claim that "the use of animals in research fosters a diverse range of attitudes, with some people expressing the desire for complete abolition of animal research practices, while others express strong support (392)." Animal testing has stirred up an argument between two opposing sides regarding the ethics of the practice. The two opposing sides are those who disagree with animal testing and those who agree with animal testing. Nuno Henrique Franco author of "Animal Experiments in Biomedical Research: A Historical Perspective" state that "Animal experimentation has played a central role in biomedical research throughout history. For centuries, however, it has also been an issue of heated public and philosophical discussion."(238) Those who are in favor of animal testing believe that it is beneficial to improving medicine. Those who are against animal testing believe that it is harmful to animals and that their are other ways to benefit humans. Being an animal lover, I oppose of animal testing for several different reasons. The first reason being animals are being subjected to all forms of suffering and isolation. The second reason is animals are not…

The scientific community is for animal testing because they see it that it is better for animals to suffer than humans. Animals greatly advance human medicine which is enough to overlook and justify animal suffering. On the other hand, those who are against testing products on animals see it as cruel. Researchers induce pain on animals, sometimes without the use of anesthetics. However, there is also a grey area where some people support it only under certain circumstances.…

Animal research is important in understanding diseases and developing ways to prevent them. Kidney transplants, the polio vaccine, and heart surgery techniques have all been developed with the help of animal research. With increased efforts throughout the scientific community, effective treatments for diabetes, diphtheria, and many other diseases have had increased effectiveness courtesy of animal testing. Scientists inject a lab animal with a virus such as AIDS or cancer, and then try to cure them. If it works on a lab animal, they have developed a new cure. The followers of animal testing agree that if animal testing had been eliminated, that many of the medications and medical procedures that we currently use today wouldn’t be present and the expansion of future treatment would be greatly restricted. For example, more than 100,000 people have been hospitalized and later died from toxic reactions to medications in 1994 that were not predicted by animal…

God has created this world such that there is a balance between the humans and non-humans and that they can exist together without complexity. But from when man has started developing he began to treat the non-humans or animals as his inferiors and has begun to give them the least respect. It is evident from history that he considered the beings with less reasoning ability as mediocre beings and made them to serve him. For example plants are for the purpose of serving animals and animals to serve humans.…

Animal Testing is the process of using products on non human animals for experimentation to record the reaction the animal has in order to see the effects of a product. Each year over 100 million innocent animals are killed for animal testing. Usually products used on animals will have negative effects regarding the animals that will result in painful effects for the animals. Animal testing is a great advance in medical technology, but hurts the animals that are being tested on. Products that animals could be tested on include cosmetics, skincare, cleaning supplies, household items, and some foods. Companies feel the need to test on animals to see the reaction in an animal to determine what could happen when the consumer uses uses the product.…

Every year millions of animals suffer and die in painful tests; in order to determine the safety of make-up products. Products like eye shadow and soap are tested on rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, dogs, and many other animals; despite the fact that the test results do not help prevent or treat human illness or injury. Cosmetics are not required to be experimented on animals, and since non-animal alternatives exist, it is difficult to understand why some companies still choose to conduct these stupid, harmful and unnecessary tests. Cosmetic companies kill millions of animals every year just to put a few more dollars into their companies. The companies who perform these tests claim that they establish the safety…
