Animal Testing is the process of using products on non human animals for experimentation to record the reaction the animal has in order to see the effects of a product. Each year over 100 million innocent animals are killed for animal testing. Usually products used on animals will have negative effects regarding the animals that will result in painful effects for the animals. Animal testing is a great advance in medical technology, but hurts the animals that are being tested on. Products that animals could be tested on include cosmetics, skincare, cleaning supplies, household items, and some foods. Companies feel the need to test on animals to see the reaction in an animal to determine what could happen when the consumer uses uses the product. …show more content…
Animal testing has helped and cured several diseases within the human body. The discovery of insulin and diabetes was discovered by removing the pancreas of a dog. Polio has dramatically decreased when the vaccine was given to animals through experimentation. Animal Testing also includes the advances in breast cancer, brain injuries, childhood leukemia, cystic fibrosis, malaria, multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis, and advances in the development of pacemakers, cardiac valve substitutes, and anesthetics. Animals and humans also have similar to humans. Chimpanzees and mice are the most closely related to humans because of their DNA and the major organs they all share. Without animal testing animals could not have some of the medical discovers for their own issues such as heart disease, glaucoma, and hip dysplasia. The prevention of extinction of an endangered species has also been done through animal testing and experimentation. There are certain laws for animal testing to take place in order for a product to be sold. In China it is a law that all cosmetics must be tested on animals in order to be sold in China. In the United States must undergo animal testing when producing mosquito repellent in order to be sold in the United States and Europe.
