Synthesis Essay On Animal Testing
Millions of dogs, cats, bunnies, rodents, and so many more other animals are being used for animal testing. These animals are forced to be in labs and are locked up in cages until they die of the drugs that are inserted inside their bodies. Once the researchers say the drugs are safe humans are taking a risk to be severely ill, hospitalize, or even die. Animal testing for medicine is harmful to both humans and animals because the side effects that occur in the animals are different for humans and the drugs that work on animals fail for humans.

The medicine used to test on animals causes side effects different from humans. When researchers inject the drug they are required to observe the side effects that is happening to the animal and later predict the side effects that will happen on a human. In an article by Pat Thomas states: the drug Tamoxifen used for breast cancer treatment was tested on rodents. The drug when used on rodents reduced the chances of mammary cancer, but it increased the chances for liver cancer. While on humans Tamoxifen increased the chances for uterine cancer (Source A). The researchers thought the drug Tamoxifen would increase the chance of liver cancer on humans just like it did on rodents, but their predictions were incorrect. Researchers need to test medicine using advanced technology not on animals. All researchers around the world need to find a safer more accurate way to test medication. If researchers keep using animals, their results will always be different for humans and they will never find a solution that will help people with their health.     Even though animals are not like exactly like us, we can test them and see how they react to the drug. People say that animal testing come with a result that are not applicable to humans. Computer models are not advanced enough and testing on plants is less applicable to humans then tests that are used on animals such as monkeys. Obvious pick is that we would not like to see a person in pain or suffering. In an article about pro-testing on animals it mentions all the cures, treatments, and preventions that have been found by using animal testing. The article states, “ But animal research hasn't benefited humans alone. Animals also have improved healthcare and a longer lifespan. Farm animals, household pets, wild species and endangered species are all benefiting from the research conducted through animals. There are vaccines for rabies, distemper, tetanus, parvo virus and numerous other illnesses in cats, dogs and countless other domesticated animals. It's obvious that animal research benefits all living species and that we are all able to live longer, healthier, happier lives because of it.” This quotes just proves that testing on animals helps both humans and animals.     Cruel, inhumane, and unnecessary. Those are just a few of the terms that come to mind when I think about animal testing. Animal testing has been a heated topic of debate for many years, throughout classrooms and medical facilities alike.
