My first reason is that animals get hurt during the process of the testing. For example Rabbits get pesticides put into their eyes, and cleaners, and other chemicals. After that it is almost certain that the rabbits would go blind. …show more content…
Dogs also get pesticides, cleaners, and other chemicals put into their bodies by shots. They also are forced to eat them. They also abuse cats. There was a cat named Robert and he was purchased and had a hole drilled into his skull and electrodes attached to his brain. This all shows how animal testing can hurt animals.(dog testing peta, cat testing peta, rabbit testing peta)
My second reason is that animals suffer and die after the testing.
22 thousand cats are killed during testing and are sold for cruel and crude dissections. According to PETA, at the university of Pennsylvania, beagle puppies were born and at 3 weeks old they had their eyes taken out and were killed to study their eyes. For monkeys, they go absolutely crazy. They start to bit themselves and they start to claw and tear out their own fur to death.
Finally, they never get to return to their natural habitat. 1st, if they are not in their natural habitat they can not reproduce naturally. That means that they are forced to mate and they can not do anything about it. They also do not grow natural instincts because when the animals have babies they are taken after the first day so their parents can not show them anything they would need in the wild. This is important because if they escaped somehow they would need to know how to survive in the wild. PETA
Others might say that animal testing is good because we can find cures for some of the terrible diseases that live here. It is more true that only 2% of the cures actually works. Also, that 2% has a chance to hurt people also. But it is true that some of the cures such as, lung cancer, birth defects, and spinal cord injuries. But if you are going to do animal testing and let it continue you should use more common animals such as rats, mice, and maybe ducks but not monkeys and other more endangered
animals.
In conclusion, animal testing is a terrible thing to do to animals. Even though some may argue animal testing is good, animals get hurt during the process, they suffer and then they die after the test, and finally they never get to return to their natural habitat. If a dog is truly a mans best friend then why do we lock them in cages and kill them in testing?
