Essay Against Animal Testing
How would you feel getting chemicals dropped into your eyes and on your skin, being confined into a small cell waiting to be tortured? Now why is it fair to do this to animals? There are so many reasons why animals should not be used for scientific research. Animal testing is unethical, and completely immoral. Not to mention it is unnecessary and there are many newly developed options that avoid animal cruelty. Additionally, animal testing has been proven to be ineffective and inaccurate.

To begin, everything about animal testing is very unethical and immoral. Many people are aware that animal testing goes on, but most people don't know the extremes that scientists will go to for research purposes. The sad truth is that if most people actually

Due to advanced technology, scientists have found many new options for testing that avoid animal cruelty. Over the years scientists have found testing on Lab-grown cells and organs to be a great alternative to animal testing. This is commonly used for testing cosmetics and some believe if this method continues to develop, animal testing will eventually decrease in popularity and be seen as unnecessary. Another option is human clinical tests. These tests consist of humans voluntarily trying new drugs, biological products, and medical devices. Although there are risks of the experiment causing harm or injury, keep in mind that these clinical tests are voluntary and us humans have the choice, unlike …show more content…
Animal testing is rarely successful since animals have different physiologies than humans. There has been many studies that have shown inaccuracy and unsuccess in animal testing. Studies show, “90 percent of medications approved for human use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans in clinical trials” (Stop Animal Testing) and also, “Animal-tested drugs have killed, disabled or harmed millions of people and lead to costly delays as well” (Stop Animal Testing). It is evident that animal testing lacks accuracy and has dangerous consequences, therefore it should no longer be

Animals are being wasted every year by testing them on useless products that are not necessary. In addition, the animals are killed at the end of each test, thus, thousands of animals die with pain. The tests the animals receive are inhumane. “To test rabbits for development of toxicity, a pregnant rabbit is taken and exposed by force feeding, throughout her pregnancy. She is killed on the day she is expected to give birth. Her babies are extracted and evaluated for birth defects” (Cosmetic). These types of testing are morally wrong.…

The first reason why we shouldn’t have animal testing is because animals are getting hurt or abused. “Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.” The chemicals that the people are using are burning or other worse things to them. The chemicals that they use on the animals could hurt or kill them. Over half of side effects cannot be detected in…

Animal testing on cosmetics should be banned. People are put in jail all the time for abusing their pets, but people are never put in jail for inhumane testing of cosmetics and other pharmaceuticals on these same animals. I have done a lot of research on animal testing and methods we can use that are more effective and don’t use animals through high school in my free time because of curiosity, so I know a lot of random facts about the harmful nature of this and alternative methods. Animals are being tortured to “help” make better medicine and, the majority of the time does not affect people the same way as animals. Animal testing is inhumane and ineffective the majority of the time, it should be banned.…

“Examples of medications that have been the result of animal testing are Penicillin, several asthma treatments, cancer and HIV drugs, vaccines, antibiotics, and insulin (Occupy Theory, 1).” Since there can be new medications found from utilising this form of testing, many people see it as beneficial to the human population. Since it’s more beneficial to humans than it is a bigger hurt to the animal species, most people believe that animal testing is okay. But, according to William H. Farland and Vicki Vaughn-Dellarco, “Abelson comments that laboratory studies of chemicals and their use in risk assessment have not been shown to have substantially benefited human health (1908).” I had interviewed my AP Biology teacher Mr. Nolan Flores. He teaches regents biology, AP biology, and astronomy. Mr. Flores even teaches animal behaviors in biology so he has a basic knowledge of animals. When I had interviewed Mr. Flores he had talked about his personal view on animal testing. He concurred with the prior statement that if it is more beneficial to test on an animal because it could save someone's life, then he is for animal testing. For him, he also stated that it depends on the situation and if the testing is ethical or not. If it involves cruel or unusual punishment to the animal, then he is against…

Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

Numerous years ago, animal testing was started to help humans obtain information. The process of testing on animals is, quite possibly, one of the most disturbing experiments ever performed. Many cosmetics and personal care products are manufactured every year and put into the market after they have been tested on animals. Almost every product was tested at some stage in its development on an animal. These products go through a long and complex testing process that leaves millions of animals mutilated, burned, poisoned, and gassed in outmoded and unnecessary tests. From these different experiments, animals are often left with different diseases like Syphilis, Herpes, or AIDS. Manufacturers of these different products use the excuse that they are performing these tests to assure our safety for these products. The manufacturers want to make sure that humans are not in any amount of danger. But is going to this extreme necessary?…

Since the early beginnings of Grecian civilization, animal testing was historically recorded as a means of scientific and medical research. It wasn't until the 1800s that it became a controversial topic of discussion. Since then, thousands of brands utilized daily are there because of extensive animal research of the products effects. But because of the extensive research, animals are often left hurt, abused, and sometimes dead due to the excruciating circumstances they are put through. Despite the “humanitarian” laws put in place to protect animals, they only cover a small percentage of the animals and aren't strictly enforced. Therefore, I believe that all animals should be put under more tightly enforced guidelines and regulations to ensure…

First of all animal testing hasn't been able to link important causes to the disease. For example, no links were found between smoking and cancer. This was later found out because of the alternatives to animal testing. The next reason is that animals do not react to medication the same way as humans. To add to this statement, no matter how many times you test a product on an animal there will still be a person who is being tested on. This is because of how we are different than animals. For the amount of money we spend on animal testing we could be getting better results without harming anything that is also more…

"More than 205,000 new drugs are marketed worldwide every year, most undergo the most archaic and unreliable testing methods still in use: animal studies" (PETA). Animals may seem like the ideal specimens for testing new drugs, but the experiments are untrustworthy and cause unknown side effects. Animals have helped form useful medicines for humans like anesthesia; they have also helped put dangerous drugs on the market (AMPEF). Animal testing is plainly unnecessary and downright cruel. Testing anything on animals, and putting them at harm, for this animal testing should be outlawed.…
