Augustine claims that animals have no fellowship among humans, and that is what makes it okay to kill animals for human consumption. Thomas Aquinas claims that animals lack reasoning and are driven by natural impulses. This is why they are naturally enslaved and exist for humans. His solution to stop the abuse of animals is to swear off the consumption of animal products and their byproducts. However, there is a way to stop making the cattle feel spooked in a feedlot. The famous Temple Grandin has devised a way to help cattle not to feel scared when they are in a feedlot. Grandin was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. She struggled with receiving any type of human touch. When she was a teenager, she stayed at her aunt and uncle’s ranch located on the west coast. As she observed her surroundings, she noticed the cattle being put into a squeeze shoot. Before getting into the squeeze shoot, the cattle were distraught and anxious. Then when they got into the squeeze shoot, they automatically calmed down. Since Grandin did not like the feeling of human touch, she built her own squeeze machine that she could use to relax just like the cattle
