Anna's Cruel Shoes Diary Entry
Dear Diary,
Yesterday I helped a woman by the name of Anna find a pair of shoes. I sometimes wonder if my clienttell would be different if my shoe store was in a different city rather than Beverly Hills. At first my cruel shoes started as a joke, but the more people that buy them the more creative I have to become in creating them. Anna’s cruel shoes consisted of two left footed pumps, right angle turns, and a few other additions I added. I wonder if my creativity will last that long in creating cruel shoes, but then again I suppose that’s the same thing as saying, “will I ever get tired of people giving me money?” Which if, I’m honest, isn’t really a question.
However, this desire for my clients to have the utmost uncomfortable shoes really

Analyzing, interpreting and presenting historical information involves dealing with great levels of uncertainty. As there exists limited artifacts which have survived the test of time, piecing together an era involves making educated assumptions. In the case of Martha Ballard, her diary provides us with a limited account of her life from 1785 to 1812. In both the movie and the book, the producers and the author have invested great effort into providing an authentic representation of Martha’s time as per her diary entries. This paper will discuss the difficulties faced by Ulrich, Richard P. Rogers and Laurie Kahn Leavitt in representing Martha’s time, the benefit of studying the lives of the marginalized and the ordinary people, difficulties in studying material culture and offer an analysis of quilts to make deduction regarding the women’s lives and their roles at the time.…

You can never expect something to enter your life and completely change the way you look at yourself and those around you. At any given moment we are completely susceptible to having our entire outlook on life rewritten. John Updike’s short story A&P shows how this is true through the perspective of cashier Sammy. Sammy and his coworker Stokesie witness three girls enter the A&P wearing nothing but swimsuits and after wandering the store are warned to dress more appropriately by Sammy’s boss, Lengel. As the girls are leaving the store Sammy quits in an attempt to impress them and then realizes the consequences his actions will have on the rest of his life. Sammy shows signs of development and possibly ambitions beyond working at the A&P through this experience. His true self is shown through his relationship with others, the way in which he acts, and how he thinks.…

Early yesterday morning, I saw that Cecilia Kang at the Washington Post had a story up about the years-long fight for white spaces entitled: Tech, telecom giants take sides as FCC proposes large public WiFi networks. It struck me as odd, because so much in the article seemed... wrong or misleading. The main part about efforts to finally do something with the old TV spectrum isn't anything new at all. We first wrote about the FCC "proposing" this back in 2004 and have covered it a few times since. The FCC has been trying to use some of that TV spectrum for better, more efficient and more useful endeavors. It's been an ongoing battle that feels like it's never going to end. The short version is that TV broadcasters got a ton of free spectrum many years ago (just look at how giant chunks of the spectrum chart belong to TV broadcasters). A big part of the move to digital TV was to force broadcasters to give up a chunk of wasted, valuable spectrum that can be turned into (among other things) some useful wireless services. TV broadcasters hate this and have been fighting it in a variety of ways.…

Codeine: Codeine is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is rapidly distributed from the intravascular spaces to the various body tissues, with preferential uptake by parenchymatous organs such as the liver, spleen and kidney. Codeine crosses the blood-brain barrier, and is found in fetal tissue and breast milk. The plasma concentration does not correlate with brain concentration or relief of pain; however, codeine is not bound to plasma proteins and does not accumulate in body tissues.…

Women are known to be great fans of shoes. At last count, Philippine Politician Imelda Marcos had over 2,500 pairs of shoes. Although Mrs. Marcos’ love for shoes is extreme, it is a very good example of how women love their shoes. Since most women have about one percent of the money Mrs. Marcos’ has, they must deal with enjoying their measly fifteen or twenty pair of shoes. One desire a woman of Imelda’s wealth and most other women share is quality. Some shoes are bought at big name stores like Dillard’s, Macy’s or Shoe Warehouse but some women have found that the Payless Shoe Store shoes have lasted just as the long. Over the years, the pumps, boots and sneakers purchased from Payless Shoes has made women just as happy as the major retail stores.…

I am happy to make the journey downstairs, as I am tired after the day and ready to head to bed early. Abigael stops in front of the mirror one more time as she reaches into her back pocket, grabs the gentleman’s number, and smiles as she looks at the piece of paper. She then looks down at me and says, “Glad I had my lucky boots on today.” It is in that moment that I realize what I am. I am Abigael’s lucky, sassy pair of boots. I may not be a tall, tan pair of leather cowboy boots, but I am short, black, made of slick leather, and have plenty of sass with my three-inch heel. It all makes sense now; why Abigael always walks a little taller in me, why she wears me so often, and why she always walks with just a little more pep in her step while wearing me. I feel content as Abigael slides me off and returns me to the floor of her closet. I will no longer feel inferior to those taller boots, now I feel nothing but pride and will sleep peacefully knowing that I am wanted. Today has been a great day because now I know exactly what I am; lucky and…

Young girls aspire to be women with contoured cheekbones, long flowing hair, and thin builds. Although, many girls do not realize how diverse they are. The sense of being different and the need to address that difference becomes more real as these girls age. In those events, their self-confidence dips, while their low-self esteem heightens. If I had the opportunity to act in my own movie, I would play the heroine because the hero fights against the evil villain: low self-esteem.…

When writing up reports and projects, one would normally use the method of finding sources and resource from other places and people; but the method of autoethnography is to use your own thoughts and experiences as a form of resource.
