The reader can see Bradstreet stop her mourning or begin to cope with what had happened in lines 14-20 and again in line 37. Before line 14 it is clear that she is mourning her losses, especially when Bradstreet says “And to my God my heart did cry, To strengthen me in my distress” (lines 8,9). She believes the fire is the act of God ,and that he will guide her. On line 37 Bradstreet changes the tone and mood, she tells of a place for her that will be glorious and the fire was God's plan to get her there. Her mood
shifted and she is no longer mourning but shows content in the thought of what will come in the future.
After the tragic fire Anne is just pondering the event and sulking,. She is somewhat broken, by the fact all of her belongings are gone. It causes her to think about why this had happened to her, she finds it was God's plan. Anne believes God is alive and well with her. The relationship she held with God is strengthened, she believes she will be alright with God guiding and protecting her, she feels safe with her trust in God. Her attitude towards god is truly shown later in the poem, like when she says “Yet by His gift made thine own, My hope and treasure lies above”(line 50,51). She tells that God has given her a gift, which was the probably the fire that allowed her to see what matter, and the treasure is God's love and heaven. So in “Here Follow Some Verses” Anne loses everything in a fire, at first she upset and confused. She eventually creates the idea that, the fire was God's plan to prepare her for heaven. Through that her relationship with God is strengthened and she believes God is there.
