The patient in the video shows the physical symptoms, such as tiredness (eye dark circles because of lacking of sleep), muscle tension, fatigue (her face is always strained with frown, quick and frequent nictation), agitation (she could not stop moving, holding her phone), difficulty with sleep (she could not sleep well for weeks or months). She also suffers from psychological symptoms. She is worried excessively about the safe and health of her daughter and husband and could not miss seeing them for a while. She could not normally function concentrate on her work and her personal activities. She easily gets irritable with people in her family and others (like her boss)
2/ What type of thing that she …show more content…
worries about?
She worries about anything in her life, things that she cannot control, predict or know the outcomes. In other words, she does not have a feeling of security. By repeatedly going through all of the possible "what if?" scenarios in her mind, she might feel like she is less vulnerable to an unexpected outcome, giving her the sense that she has some control over the situation. She frequently asks questions that start with "what if?" about what bad outcomes can happen to her family members. Her worries come from her excessive, long-lasting and unrealistic anxiety about her life and other people's lives.
3/ How did the patient's disorder affect her work?
The patient's disorder takes her away from important things she should be paying attention to at the moment. It makes her feel worry anytime about what can happen and what is unlikely to happen. It leads her to a physically tired state, psychological exhaustion and mental scare. Therefore, it prevents her from focusing on her work, completing her work and finding a new job (if she is laid off). Moreover, if she could not be "treated," she hardly gets on well with the community at her workplace. She might miss out many enjoyable events, and it can lead her disorder more seriously.
4/ What do you think the most debilitating part of the disorder is for the patient?
I think the most debilitating part of the disorder for the patient is the excessive and long-term worry. It leads her to not only a fatigable body but also a tired mentality. It keeps her away from functional activities, necessary relationships, and regular communications. One more important thing, the worry is the feeling, so it is very abstract and hard to confirm. In case that she meets a professional doctor and receive an efficient therapy, no ones can make sure if she absolutely recovers or if she could suffer from it
again.
